Hi all, I started back at work after feeling so much better yesterday but oh my, I felt exhausted and in pain by the end of the day. Days before I’d managed to stop taking pain relief and now I’m back to being dosed right up again. Just wondering if anyone has any advice/ positive vibes. Feeling like it’s a constant loosing battle with my body lately, struggling to see the light at the end of the tunnel.

Just for context, I’m a teacher, so can’t exactly do my job from home either🙈

I am the same. I am a teacher to. I am back on pain killers. Pretty sure people just assume we are sat at our desk all day. I come home and rest as much as possible. It’s so difficult as the jobs go do list is so long.

Oh I know! It’s so frustrating. Especially with how busy this term is, so hard to get back to it!

Hi singingelephant

It's tough returning to work after surgery. Although you felt better relaxing at home, it's clear that your body is still healing. Is there anyone you can speak to in the workplace to explain how you're feeling and to see if you might be able to get some additional support in the short term - whether that's a TA from another class, or whether they might be able to get a supply teacher in for one day a week for the next couple of weeks so that you can continue to recover?

Really hope you start to feel better soon x

Thank you for the message. I was able to take my PPA from home yesterday which meant I was able to rest a little more but my to do list is just getting longer and there’s no one who is able to do help me with it, so annoying. Work have been fab but I doubt they’ll just allow me to have more time off!

Great to hear your work has been supportive. Don't be afraid to ask for help from friends and family either, whether it's dropping round a food shop or simply coming over to make you a cup of tea! I'm sure they'd be happy to support your recovery x

Hi. Just reaching out to say hang in there - it’s still super early days since your surgery and it’s inevitable that your energy levels will be really low to start off with but with time it’ll improve! I have a pretty physical job with long hours and I only returned 5 weeks after my surgery and it still took me a while to get into the swing of things / it’s still a work in progress! X
