I had excision 2 weeks ago, and was expecting my first period to be awful...everything I had read and was told was that it would be awful. I had my first period last week just short of a week after my lap, and it wasn't as bad as my periods pre-lap!! The bleeding was red, no clots like I usually get and I had no spotting before hand like I normally get. The cramps were also less painful than I was having before my lap and excision. I didn't take any painkillers. I think everyone is different. After my first lap, that was only diagnostic, my first period was awful, but like I say this one was fine.

Hi

What kind of surgery did you have to remove endo?

I am on my 2nd period since excision surgery and it's the worst pain I've ever felt. Like I'd hapilly give birth again over this pain.

Luckily this is my last ever period as I have a hysterectomy on Friday. Just be prepared, everyone is different but when I was told by my surgeon the pain with periods following surgery were to be MORE painful than normal, I couldn't imagine it could be. Boy was I wrong.

I am dosed up on tramadol as we speak. That's the only way to numb the pain.

Good luck

Hi,

I had a diagnosis, and they removed the endo at the same time, he said he removed as much as they could but as it’s connected to my bowel they can’t remove it all,

My periods have always been painful so I’m dreading this one, I’m self employed aswell so need to think about work too!

Thank you

They couldn't remove it all as it was probably general gynae that carried out lap. Only skilled multidisciplinary team are able to excise endo on bowel. Or anywhere else the norm gynae can't.

If you've been left with remaining endo then until this is got rid of, the pain will continue. If I were you, if ask to see a specialist bsge centre who can carry out excision surgery as that's the gold standard procedure.

If you don't go down the bsge route, the endo will remain and pain continue x
