I'm 28 and will be starting the Lupron injection treatment this week. I'm wondering if anyone has had experience with this and if so, what side effects have been experienced?
My backstory...
I was diagnosed with endometriosis at the end of May after undergoing emergency surgery to remove a 7.5cm hemorraghic, ruptured cyst on my right ovary. Since that initial surgery I've had to have 2 more to remove the ovary and tube, correct a bowel adhesion and ablate the endometriosis. I had three surgeries total in the span of a month.
My doctor put me on the Depo-Provera injection but it wasn't seeming to calm down my issues. I've been in constant pain since my third surgery at the end of June which is why I'm being switched over to the Lupron injection.
Any advice or thoughts would be really, really appreciated. This is all new to me and it's been a bit of an overwhelming 3 months.
Thank you!
Claire

I've always done really well on it. I'm on my third course and (for me) it massively helps with my pain and bleeding with very few (if any) side effects. Everyone is different but I'm lucky that it seems to agree with me xxx
I'm not sure to be honest, I've always been on the monthly injection. There would definitely be a benefit of only needing to have an injection ever three months rather than monthly but aside from that I'm not sure of any other pros/cons xxx
Well, I did Lupron 20 years ago, and would never do it again. But, that's why you have a doctor, he/she should have gone over the risks with you. For me, the effects did not warrant the little benefits. Wish you luck!
Hi - what side effects specifically did you experience if you don't mind me asking? I've gone over the risks/benefits with my doctors but I'm interested in hearing first hand accounts
It was 20 years ago, and the details are fuzzy, and I did one injection every month for 6 months, so it may not even apply to you. The one benefit was that it stopped my period, so there was no bleeding but I was like a woman in menopause - I felt old, I had hot flashes and was extremely moody. The worst is that I started to have dry mouth and dental decay - an unexplained side effect. Teeth were fine before; teeth not fine after. Honestly, I never took the time to see what side effects the drug had - I just wanted a quick fix. The pain came back after, so I just decided the meds weren't for me. What did help was having my son - and changing my lifestyle. We are all different women, with different bodies, so only take my comments as comments - no one knows the pain you are going through, and these choices are yours alone to make
