I had my initial diagnosis in Swindon in 2008, but have been having a follow up in Edinburgh this year. I can't mention names on here, but the consultant I have been seeing has been first class. So caring and understanding and couldn't be more helpful and has been very thorough.
I actually had my initial consultation in Livingston and then have done a bit of a tour of the Edinburgh hospitals since then. An MRI in the Western, follow-up appointment with the consultant on Lauriston Place (building near the old Infirmary), ultrasound at the Royal and am due a follow-up ultrasound and consultant follow-up soon (have found cysts on my ovaries that need further investigation). All staff have been excellent and things have moved quite quickly.
Please feel free to PM me if you have any questions. Xxx
When I saw my GP I was nervous too, because I always know what I want to say, but get tongue tied and feel thick!
The GP was a bit sceptical about referring me when I spoke to her as I wasn't having any specific problems. I just wanted to check everything was OK as we moved back to Scotland before I had a follow-up. In the end she said it was up to me, so I said yes please and she referred me!
Anyway, got to see the consultant and I really thought he was going to make me feel like I was waiting his time, but I couldn't have been more wrong!
Good luck for Monday. Make sure you write down any points/questions you might have.
Hello, good luck with it! I'm up in Inverness, and after a long wait to see gynae, they've tried to fob me off with diagnosis of endo, without a lap. I've now been put on a waiting list for one. Really hoping there's a chance I can see someone who specialises in endo treatment, as I never seem to get anywhere with it or being taken seriously
