Hi
I have my first appointment at a specialist endo centre on Wednesday I would like to go prepared as it takes so long to be seen any advice would be welcome.
Thanks treez
I would recommend taking your pain diary and a list of ALL of your symptoms.
my appointment lasted about 10 minutes. I told him all of my symptoms, he put me on the progesterone only pill and put me on the waiting list for a laparoscopy.
good luck, hope it goes well x
Hi there, best of luck for your appointment.
I agree take in a list of symptoms you suffer from and pain diary if been keeping one. But also have written down how it all affecting you not only , physically and mentally, but your social life, work life, family life, relationship (if have a partner). The more info you can give and show how it a pain in the backside the better. My GP had forwarded my long 8 page letter to them where I had detailed all of this and the consultant said it was very helpful and gave an insight into how I was.
Also if you have any questions about the condition, or treatments etc take them with you. My mind is great at going blank at appointments so I now make sure I have written down everything as nothing worse than coming out of an appointment and then remembering what wanted to say/ask!
Best of luck x
Thanks
I'm going to follow your advice my mind usually goes blank too but I will make sure that I write everything down so hopefully I will get some answers (it's such a long wait for these appointments and I want to make the most of it).

Glad to be of some help. I hope your specialist is as good as the one I saw in May. First time felt listened to and not that it was all in my head or over re-acting. Be prepared for further waiting though, if it like the one I at. I am awaiting an op and still not had a date through yet for it. Waiting lists!
Once again best of luck x x
Ooo also if you have any copies of scan reports re cysts etc or Laparoscopy report etc take a spare copy for them. Helps to give them more info and something to work with too.
Thanks
I am taking copies, unfortunately I was under a general gyni and asked to be referred to a specialist centre so I have to start over but I expect that I will be put on a waiting list.

I badgered my GP to refer me. I've already had a Laparoscopy due to infertility investigations back in 2013 which confirmed severe endo. However the specialist wants to see for himself so can give an accurate plan of action, plus removing my right tube and ovary. So yeah most likely you will have go through it all again. I keep telling myself with all the waiting it will be worth it, esp as now being dealt with by a specialist. Hope your journey goes well x
How did your appointment go? x
Hi
I'm going to be having a laparoscopy it will be my first the consultant said it's to rule out it being a gyni problem so I am happy with that (I know that sounds strange being happy about it) but I think it's the only option.

Hi there again treez, glad to see you been listened to and now going to have a Laparoscopy. Least that way you will finally get some answers and know where you stand. Hope the whole consultation went ok for you x
