Hi all, just been told by my specialist it'll be 11 months for my op, is that even legal?!

Also has anyone got any info or experience with endo and seratonin levels?

Thanks!

I know how you feel! I'm on a waiting list for a BSGE specialist, I saw him in February 2016, following rubbish surgery in Jan '16 (a different surgeon) and I'm told the hospital can't give me a date this side of Xmas! Could wait for a different surgeon but I'd like one that knows what they're doing for once! Good luck x

Yeah there's no point in having surgery with someone who doesn't know what they're doing. It's so frustrating waiting for surgery because it's not classed as life threatening!

Seratonin is dependant on the production of Progesterone, if you produce little progesterone you won't produce that much serotonin. Endometriosis often times results in high estrogen and low progesterone since progesterone kills endo, and endo doesn't really like that so it'll try to 'overthrow' progesterone by creating more endo which contains a lot of estrogen which will eventually result in a hormonal imbalance and a low progesterone supply. If you want to boost up seratonin levels I would recommend using a progesterone only pill of you aren't already on one. If you use it all the time it supposedly will fight off the endo.

I know confusing but this is my understanding. I know lap times are crazy, dr's are like "You gotta try these things before we book the lap" then they could've just bookef it before b/c if something did work they could've just cancelled it.

Thank you for info regarding seratonin. I'm suffering really bad with symptoms that are in line with serotonin like heart burn etc so it's good to know it's related to the endo!

My understanding is lack of serotonin causes depression which is why so many of us with endo have depression too and why that may get diagnosed before endo does. I'm on anti depressants and find they do help with the whole D side. I tried Prozac which is an SSRI (selective serotonin re-uptake inhibitor) in other words it stops body losing serotonin. That didn't work for me but another type (lofepramine) did so it can be trial and error like so many things.

Appt times are crazy and as surgery is expensive they try everything before but I agree booking you in to start with would help and then cancelling if other treatment work. Also it seems to me not much else does work for endo so surgery seems a good bet.

I'm on Prozac which helps mood wise considerably but the other symptoms are still present I feel like they are dealing with the symptoms not the actual problem!

The only thing I know is when daughter got diagnosed with it they put her on 10 mg Prozac

They said some studies suggest it may help

I had been on Prozac for years and when she told me this I looked back and realized that my own pain was way less .
