arrowe park endometriosis centre wait?

After being passed pillar to post by several doctors and gynaecologist I finally paid private for a consultation by a specialist to get an opinion on my endo. He was absolutely amazing and although I only had a lap in March the specialist has told me I need another one for a few different reasons. Due to costs I will be having the lap on the Nhs at arrowe park, does anyone know how long this wait is?

ive bene waiting about 18months and when I rang told it wont be this year....

Try to ring the secretary and ask how long the waits expected to be whenever I have spoke to them they are really kind and helpful. Its very long there because they get people refered from all over the country because they are ment to be so good xxx good luck

Its so frustrating for everyone with wait times like that. I will give them a ring and see what they say out of interest. I hope you get seen shortly now. Xxx

hi i spoke to the secretary and she was very polite and said on Wednesday my letter from gp and private consultation will be reviewed by the specialist and may request more tests before seeing him so i assume it will still be some time before the face to face. I wonder if he will get me on the nhs wait for a lap when he sees my recommendation from spire or if he will wait until he sees me. Xx

this does not give me any confidence. my referral was sent to arrowe park about 9 weeks ago now just for the initial appointment so god knows how long I’ll have to wait then! I’m also arrowe park but when I went for my pelvic and transvaginal scan the technician who usually works in the womens said why don’t I ask if I could have an appointment there as waiting times might be quicker?

Hope you get seen soon!

last time I spoke to the reception there she said average is about 7 months for an appointment and a year plus for surgery. For the womens I waited 1 year and 4 months for an appointment. It’s just ridiculous x

oh wow that’s crazy! How awful we have to wait in agony for that long it’s totally unfair. I’m debating whether to get a loan and go private but I can’t really afford it to be honest.

I feel you, it’s totally exhausting isn’t it! I could barely afford the private consult for a start 😂 seems like no matter how much you call and push nobody listens xx

did you you to spire? The most annoying thing is it’s the same consultants you see in arrowe park 🙈 the only thing that makes me feel better is at least everyone is in the same boat. My ultrasound have been clear to surely it must be endo?? Did anything show on ultrasound for you if you had one? X

yes! I went to spire! I’d been waiting a year at the womens just for an appointment so went private for the consult and he put me on his nhs list at arrowe park for the surgery. It makes me so mad that they just leave you to it with all these symptoms for over a year with no guidance or help in the meantime!

I had scans last June which showed my ovary was stuck to my uterus on my left side, and an MRI a couple of months ago which shows cysts pushing my uterus to one side on the right, but the MRI scan didn’t come back with any comments on endo so I’m worried that they won’t find anything in surgery and I’m back at the same position two years later!

Are you waiting for a diagnosis? What’s your symptoms? Xx

A year?? It’s unbelievable! I don’t blame you going private. What symptoms do you have?

I was quite surprised nothing showed up on the scan I had because the pain is also in the left side mainly. My symptoms are painful ovulation (to the point I’m stuck in bed), fainting on the loo with pain when on my period trying to go to the toilet, mostly when trying to have a poo 💩 but also when passing urine. Passing clots. Nausea during my period. Just general pelvic and back pain throughout the month.

The GP said I might have endo stuck on my bowel so also have been referred to colorectal team. I have been put back on the pill which I’ve been taking for a few months now taking back to back, it has really helped with my symptoms.

Xx

yeah a year 😭

Well ever since I started my periods they were always really heavy, passing clots and painful. I was referred back in 2016 and where cysts came up on my scan, they told me it was all signs of endo but they can’t do anything about it so no point in investigating and that was it 🙃

Then last May I was bleeding in-between periods and after sex and mentioned my heavy periods and ovulation pain and that I was unable to conceive and the GP who I saw thought it could be endo and referred me! Since then I’ve developed this constant pulling pain on my groin on the right hand side which has been present over a year! And I’ve got backache more than ever!

Oh bless you, your symptoms don’t sound fun ☹️ Sounds like all the signs of endo to me and with your bowel you’ll need another surgeon in to help with that side of things I believe. Glad the pill seems to have eased things for you! Careful with that though because I feel like doctors seem to palm people off with the pill if they can!

Are you waiting for your initial appointment at arrowe park now then? It’s such a long wait, and with this bank holiday it’s pushing people further down the queue too ☹️ Xxx

I’m not 100% because I went private for the consultation so was seen right away, so I’m waiting the year for surgery. But when I spoke to reception she said about 7 months for the initial appointment x

thank you, I’ve had initial appt via zoom some months ago and then waiting to be seen next month face to face (I’m not in the country) and just trying to work out how long I might be waiting from then xx
