I'm four weeks post op following a lap and salpingectomy. i have been told not to exercise until week 6 but I am going crazy not doing anything except walking. I was fit before the op and have had a really easy time (no op pain) following it so I'm wondering if i could start back avoiding abdominals for now. I have never been into yoga before but thought that might be a safe point to start. Are there any yogi's out there who could offer some advice?
Thanks

Hey so pleased for you that you feel ready to get back to it!! You could try gentler exercises such as yoga or Pilates, swimming as along as your wounds have fully healed? I would be so careful with doing weights as I now feel I rushed back to the gym too quickly and I really strained my lower ab muscles by focusing on legs and arms which did set me back. Maybe try some gentle cycling?
Thanks for your reply. I would love to go swimming but unfortunately my drain wound has still not healed. I'm seeing the nurse on Thursday about it actually. It is still weeping and i have to have a dressing on it all the time which i am convinced is the reason it won't heal properly. Anyway....back to the exercise....a physio at the hospital said i could use a static bike at the gym and use my resistance bands to work on my arms so I might try that. I'll avoid weights for now like you said as it is a worry to push myself as i can't afford the setback. Hope you are still going well and fighting fit again
I'm pleased that you're seeing the nurse as it sounds like your wound is infected (also a nurse by a vet one!!), all 3 of my wounds from my first op got infected - have you had your stitches removed? That sounds like a good idea I was pushing myself too much to be back to normal and was then in agony for a couple of days due to the strain! Thank you I am now 13 days post op and doing well! I hope you feel lots better soon
