Pre op later today

Hi I was wondering what happens at a pre op? I have mine later today. Anyone else's hospital give you a pre op then send out the date for your operation?

I've always been given the dates for op and preop together, but I've seen others say that they have a preop date and no op date so I guess it depends on the hospital. I have my next pre op on Monday for surgery on the 17th march.

They usually check your heart rate and BP, then weight and height. They take blood for whatever blood tests have been ordered and may swab you for mrsa (inside of your mouth, possibly armpit and groin). They'll ask you lots of questions about allergies, what medications you're currently using, that sort of thing.

They'll talk through the op and recovery, check that you understand what you're having done, and give you your instructions for the surgery day (when to come in, when you can eat and drink etc). If you need bowel prep for the surgery they will give you that.

It's usually pretty straightforward.

Yes I had it the same

I had s pre-op and then they sent me the letter stating the date of op.

Pre-op is pretty straight forward at least to me it was.

That is just a questions about your health and that's about it, again, at least it was for me
