I was diagnosed with Severe Endo and have surgery planned for later this year. I also have an underactive thyroid which went undiagnosed for about 10 years (endo undiagnosed for at least 12yrs!) and i wondered if there is a link? Help!

Hi, glad you have finally received some answers it can be a long road, I'm not sure if there is a link but thought I would let you know that I have just been diagnosed with endo after years of pain, and have had an under active thyroid for about 6 years.
I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism in 2011 and have been referred for laparoscopy - waiting for a date to see the consultant. I have searched and couldn't find a concrete link, but I do think there is some sort of relationship between the two - as you say, all to do with hormones. For years, I was told that my heavy periods were due to my thyroid, and when my dose was increased it did have a temporary improvement... I'm now at the limit of thyroxine I can take and my periods are still a nightmare which is why they now think it is endometriosis. I blame my mum - hypothyroidism and endometriosis run in her family!
