Tilted (retroverted) uterus: is there a link with endo?

After my ultrasound in 2021, the gyneacologist told me that I have a tilted uterus, but that this does not contribute to painful intercourse or point to the possibility of any illnesses/conditions. (I had never heard of endometriosis at that point)

I've read that it's fairly common to have a tilted uterus, about 20% of women have one. But does anyone know if the percentage among women with endometriosis is higher? Is there a link?

I’ve no idea on stats, mine was tilted, not sure how, can’t find it now. I’d suspect adhesions have something to do with it.

Mines tilted, i have awful Adenomyosis. I am currently on the waiting list for a hysterectomy. Aparently theres not a link. Although so many women with a tilted uterus experience pain x

Yes a fixed retroverted uterus is a clinical sign of rectovaginal endo. The fibrosis adhering the back of the uterus to the bowel obliterates the pouch of Douglas in severe cases (classic stage 4) and typically pulls the uterus back in the process. Deep sex will usually be painful but this will be as much to do with nodules behind the cervix, there can be pain with internals and sometimes if can be difficult or impossible to carry out smears for example.

Thanks for your reply Lindle. I am adding this to 'things to mention' on the consultation for the lap!

Oh my goodness- this explains the last 4 decades of my life! Thankyou for making the post-thread Mountainliving and replies esp from Lindle -there continues to be such resistance to identifying the obvious physiological connections between endo /adeno /tilted uterus and other associated inflammatory conditions -ibs fibromyalgia etc and suspect one day suspect it will be clear they are all part of the same singular bigger condition and/or cause…

It's interesting to investigate and can be so important to share with the doctor! I am making a list of symptoms and writing possible explanations behind them. Maybe it's due to endo, maybe not. But I'd like to think that it is relevant information to the health providers!

Not sure if there is a link but I have endo & adeno & a tilted uterus. Part of my uterus is fused to my bowel so I did wonder if the endo caused it to become tilted 🤷🏻‍♀️
