Hi I am 4 days post lap surgery. The pain from the trapped gas is beyond anything I have experienced! I've tried peppermint, ginger, hot water and Lemon, moving as much as I can which is torture but I can't shift it! Any advice much appreciated PLEASE xx

I had my lap last week and the pain lasted for 5 days, you have my sympathy, it's awful!

I found paracetamol, wind-eze tablets, a hot water bottle & just having to grit my teeth & breath through the attacks helped.

They do go in the end, I promise!

I feel your pain! Mine lasted about a week. I drank peppermint tea and kept walking around so your doing everything right. It's just a case of waiting I'm afraid but it is horrible xx

I'll second the peppermint tea, painkillers (taken consistently), sitting upright and moving when you. An and finally wind eze! Wind eze was the thing that finally settled it to a manageable pain. Anything containing Simethicone should do the trick.

Hot water bottle to my lower back helped too - the worse of it passed after three days X

Hi

I had exactly the same it's awful peppermint tea laying on your side curled up if you can seems to work also someone said taking peppermint as in the sweets can be better sometimes than tea also peppermint oil in some water also rubbed lightly on your tummy (if you can do that comfortably) keep moving as it does help and a nice water bottle. It will pass it's horrible though.

Good luck with your recovery treez

Try buscopan, it's helps with the trapped wind after surgery.

Ho, sorry your suffering like this with the gas i was also like this after my last lap i felt like i had been shot in the shoulder at times I had no idea it could be so painful! i found peppermint tea helped but also i didn't go anywhere without my heat pad on my shoulder that really eased it for me. Best of luck with it and i hope it eases soon xx

I found massages to my shoulders really helped with mine, no idea how they are linked but for some reason it just helped at the worst times x
