Hi Ladies - I have had a diagnostic lap last week and I was hoping to get some advice on how several things can be treated or what they even are...I have a large cyst on my ovary which is "adherent to pouch of Douglas obliterating it ???". I also have Endo in my pelvic peritoneum and old blood in pouch of Douglas. Any advice on what this means or has been treated in these areas would be greatly appreciated. Does anyone know what stage of Endo this may be classed as ?
Many thanks for reading

If you google image "common Endometriosis locations" you will find lots of images to help some are better than others. I am going to print one out for my surgery follow up appointment. One of the better ones:
I think the pouch of Douglas you mention is the long narrow gap in between the back your womb (uterus) and bowel which is a common spot for "deep" endo. Peritoneal and Peritoneum relate to inside lining of pelvis abd around your tummy organs (I think)
There is a diagram below on grading I think it's quite complex combining location, quantity, size in a points system. You will need to ask to get yours.
Thanks so much for this it's really helpful. I wonder if this is one of the reasons I get such excruciating pain in my back if it's at the back of the womb and bowel ??
Unfortunately for me I was told when I came round after my lap that I have to see a bowel surgeon first before I go back to my endo surgeon so I am still a bit in the dark. That appointment is later today so I may start to find out more then.
HI Geordie-girl, I have just joined this forum. I had many, many laps and all kinds of treatment for over 20 years, whatever was out there I tried it, as well as tons of alternative treatments. Only thing that worked was excision surgery. It takes time and it can be costly. I had health insurance who thankfully paid for it. But I had to travel to the UK. Had a really good surgeon, Mr. Trehan in Leeds. Check it out, it was the only thing that relieved my pain and got rid of the endo for good.
Hi thank you so much for your reply. I am so sorry to read you had issues for so long but pleased you have eventually got it sorted. I do feel lucky in a way that I didn't have to wait to long for a diagnostic lap but so disappointed to be told what I have already mentioned and several other issues it was the last thing I expected. I have now been referred to an Endo specialist but no idea how long I might have to wait for an appointment...I will certainly google Mr Trehan thanks for recommending him.
