Hi can anyone advise me I am 10 post laparoscopy and my stitches haven't dissolved but since yesterday I am having shooting pains in my belly button where the incision is.THe pain is localised to the belly button and wanted to know if it's an infection or if anything someone has had?

Hi. I'm 2 weeks post lap and on discharge was told by a nurse my sutures would dissolve on their own. The surgeon had put nylon non dissolving sutures in. My surgeon said my sutures needed removing by a nurse at my local gp at day 6-8, as there is a higher chance of getting an infection in your belly button as it's an area that is more likely to remain damp if you take a shower. If the sutures themselves feel fairly stiff you may have none dissolvable sutures in and the will need taking out. I also started getting pains because the sutures had started to cut in. If you book in with a nurse she will be able to remove them and check your wounds. x
