First laparoscopy in a few days...

Hello, I've recently been diagnosed with stage IV endo, which was slightly a socking, but I'm handling it fine. About a year ago when I came off contraception and started getting periods again (I have been trying to get pregnant) I was in SO MUCH pain which lasted for about 2-3 days each month. It was so bad I used to spend my nights just throwing up (sorry tmi). Anyway, after a MRI and speaking with specialists, I have it on my right side ovary and on bowel. Over the last few months I have followed the 'endo diet' and gone gluten free, cut down on red meat and milk too. It seems to be working well for me, cut my pain by half and the rest I've handled with will power so far.

I have my first laparoscopy this Tuesday, slightly scared, but in a way hopefully they might be able to do something with my endo around my ovary (I hope!). What should I expect exactly?? I heard from others that it doesn't take long, but it's supposed to be painful in your shoulder afterwards. Does it hurt anywhere else or feel different afterwards?

Hi

It is really not too bad. Take a overnight bag with you just in case. If you want to click on my previous posts. There is a link to a website that tells you all about post operative care. Don't forget take Movicol!

I had two laps without much issues. Vast majority of patients have a uneventful recovery. Hope your operation goes well.

Great, thanks very much. I will take a look at that, it's good to speak to others who have been through it! Much appreciated.

Hello. I had my first lap on Tuesday. They said they removed all the endo and I should be pain free from now on. I still feel tender around my stomach but plenty of rest and I should be fine. The pain in your shoulder will be uncomfortable but it helped me to lie down to take the pressure off and also drink peppermint tea. If you do need to ask me anything else, feel free to message me as I know there is a lot to take in. Hope it goes ok for you

Hi i had lap and endo removal on friday, the pain my my belly button is horrible the other incisions not so bad. My right side inside is awful thats where all the endo was removed from. But im finding the pain in my chest and shoulders is almost unbearable i find standing up helps my shoulder pain but makes stomach pain worse. Hopefully it will all ease off soon.

Good luck x
