Mirena removal???

I have an appointment with my gp to discuss removing the coil i had fitted during a lap 13 weeks ago. I'm really not liking it . Not sure what to do yet but wondered if anyone could tell me what it's like to have it removed?

I was really worried when I had mine taken out but it was a piece of cake. I didn't even feel it. They make you lie on the bed with your feet together like you're having a smear and it's over in seconds. I will say though that I bled VERY heavily for several days after it was taken out with lots of big clots so be prepared for that.

I hated my coil but stuck it out for the full 5 years cos I was really worried about having it out. When I eventually plucked up the courage, it was so easy. I barely felt a thing and it was such a relief when it was done. It's really nothing to worry about at all. I didn't bleed much after and went straight on the pill. Best thing I ever did!

The coming out is not a problem, its the going in (without a lap) that is painful!

After 2 Mirenas, that have been great for me, having it inserted was incredibly difficult. As Jo said be prepared for v. heavy bleeding & clots, I had that for 23 days afterwards but was told this is normal.
