Laproscopy

Hi ladies just a quick question I was wondering how many cuts and scars are lily with a laproscopy? I thought it was only one on the tummy button but Iv heard other ladies have a few more.

Hello there!

Each diagnostic lap I had, I had 3 cuts, one in the belly button & two under the bikini line.

Some ladies I've read only had 2!

When I had excision surgery, I had 5 cuts, one in the belly button, 2 at the side and 2 under the bikini line, he went in through the same scars so to minimise the scarring. It does depend on your surgeon sometimes!

Every lap I've had I've had three incisions. However I've swapped consultants over the years and because one was left handed and the other right, I have incisions/scars on both sides!!

I had 4, belly button and 3 below on bikini line. They found a cyst on my right ovary and a chocolate (endo) cyst on my left ovary. It was described as 'uneventfull' but I was told there was only going to be 3 incisions, so don't know why there was an extra one! I would imagine it depends on what they find and what needs doing, which they can't predict too well until they are in there unfortunately. Think all hospitals/surgeons probably differ in how they do it. Mine was in Dec last year and can only barely see the scars now, but i did rub bio oil into it day and night as soon as it had healed for weeks!

For my diagnostic lap I had 3 - belly button, right side and lower left side, for my excision surgery I had belly button, right tummy and left and right on bikini line - if your worried about the scars, my first lap was 10 months ago and except for the scar in my belly button the other scars are barely noticeable
