Exercise and endo

Good evening lovely ladies hope you are not in too much pain tonight

I was diagnosed with endo in December 2015 after a laparoscopy, on my womb and bowel. Had endo burnt off my womb but still have it on my bowel.

Putting on a lot of weight due to gonapeptyl injection and HRT to put me through a forced menopause as I am only 44.

Can anyone recommend any exercise which won't make my endo pain worse.

Take care all of you and hope you have a pain free day tomorrow.

Lots of love Janet xx

Hi Janet,

Have you tried yoga? I have heard yoga is good and gentle walking. I used to go to the gym, but haven't been for a while as my pains are pretty horrible.

I do go for walks every now and then but not for too long as too much walking does make the pain worse for me.

Sweety.

Hope you are ok and not in too much pain today.

Thank you so much for taking the time to reply to me, much appreciated.

Thank you for the information on the yoga I will look for a class in my area.

Just started reading a book called stop endometriosis and pelvic pain by Andrew S Cook seems really good so far. They recognise what we have to go through got it on Amazon.

Take care sweetie and I hope you have a pain free weekend.

Lots of love Jane xx💗

HI. I have had 4 operations and been on the injections for nearly 3 years and just been taken off them. However to answer your question yoga is great then when have built up some strengthtry pilates. Honest anything will help walking or even house work good luck.

Yoga. I have been doing Ashtanga Yoga every day for at least 30-40mins for over 2/3weeks now. I follow Kino.yoga on youtube.com and started out with the 30 day beginner challenge. I have tried vinyasa and hatha I'm the past but still prefer Asthanga as that is the one I tried in my early 20s when I was first introduces to yoga. It is challenging in places - you sweat like a mad person - however I have found that it re-directs energy, I would go as far as to say that it leaves you with a similar feeling that you get after having great sex. Positive outlook, awake etc. That's what I have felt. Ashtanga is cardio focused from what I understand of it - focuses alot on breath and using that breath properly in order to achieve and hold the positions and you really feel the difference between when you are breathing correctly and when you're not. Vinyasa I think is quicker and Hatha you hold the poses longer - or it could be the other way round with those two or I could have misinterpreted altogether. Lol. Ashtanga definitely is more cardio/breath focused though. Kino breeaks down each movement into mini bite sections in the earlier videos so on video 1 it all centres around downward dog, video 2 all on chatiranga, vid 3 plank and vid 4 upward facing dog. However they get progressively longer through the challenge as you effectively work through the positions that make up the typical Yoga practise. The longest vid is around 40mins. My bf has definitely noticed a huge difference in my flexibility, and body shape. I am curvy but my body is really toned and I can feel the effect that it is having internally. On the beginning you may find that you're able to do maybe 3 - 5 vids in 3 days of the challenge and then as the days go on you are only able to do 2 or 1 - don't lose heart. Keep going. Everyone works at their own rate with Yoga. I have found that on the odd occasion where I haven't managed to do Yoga in the day I have really felt it the next day in terms of muscles feeling tight and/or seizing and my temperament on the day that I haven't done the Yoga has been quite sluggish and I have felt quite down so I really do believe that it does something else internally and externally. I like the Kino vid on youtube because I find her quite inspiring and very encouraging. Hope this helps 😊

Pretty pretty sure I just spent 30 hours trapped in an NHS hospital because of an endo flare, brought on by running. Which I was trying to take up. But it ended up taking me out ha!

I think I'm going to stick to walking! Yoga can be quite painful to me also. I think a lot of it has to do with where the endo is for your specifically and how bad are the adhesions.

A wholefoods plant based diet can go a long way to help you get to a healthy weight. That plus gentle exercise thats low impact are best.
