Hi sweet, I'm not sure it's normal. For the first couple of months I still had periods but they then stopped.

If it's lighter or alleviating the pain it's a good thing. I hope you're well x

Hi, so sorry you're going through this. Can you or someone clarify this for me but I thought they can't put you on Zolodex any longer than 6 months in the UK?

This doesn't seem normal to me... I thought the whole point of it is to induce chemical menopause. If you're still having a cycle what are they giving you, saline solution?! Dreary-o. I'd raise that, but let ladies with actual Zolodex experience answer. I keep refusing it.

I hope you're ok xx

Hi as far as I'm aware you can have Zoladex for longer so long as you have add back hrt with it to protect heart , bones etc.

As for periods , Zoladex doesn't always work for everyone so I would question whether it is worth while staying on it.

Hi, I am sorry to hear you are still bleeding. Maybe contact the consultant and see what he says? Maybe call his/her secretary to pass the message?

I have been on decapeptyl, which is a cheap version of Zoladex?, for 1 year and 5 months now.

My consultant who prescribed it said that I can be on HRT if I have too much side effects but I don't suffer mush from hot flashes so not taking HRT. I am taking calcium though.

The consultant who will be operating on me said that decapeptyl is licensed to prescribe for 2 years. So it was suggested I am on it until the surgery.

I had 5 months of decapeptyl. It worked for about 6 weeks, and then my periods returned and the pain got worse with each bleed until I had a random bleed a week after the 5th injection and had to go to A&E for pain relief. The gynae told me that for reasons unknown, for some women, these injections just don't work :( and don't stop your periods. They took me off the HRT and gave me norethisterone to try and stop any further bleeds.

Not what you're looking for?
