Extreme period pain

Hi. I'm currently having my first period since my lap 5 weeks ago. Does anyone know if it's normal to be so painful and heavy. I could cry it so painful and no pain killers are touching the pain.

I had my lap nearly 7 weeks ago and my period 2 weeks ago. It was brutal.... Extremely painful and heavier than normal... I took codeine 30mg and paracetamol for two days, but I could not get any sleep due to the pain. Thankfully it subsided as my period started to fizzle out.

My last lap I also had a painful period straight after, but it wasn't as bad as this time around. So I think it's normal to experience more pain and bleeding than usual. I hope you are feeling a bit better by now x

Hi. Thanks for the advice. Still in pain. On all the tablets I can. Guess I'm gonna have to ride this out. X

I hope things start to ease soon then. It's awful, but you can only take all the meds you are allowed, grab the hot water bottle and ride it out. Knowing its 'normal' to be this bad after surgery will hopefully stop you panicking which can make the pain even worse. Really hope things settle asap.

Hi Zoe I had my lap on the 20th June and am just recovering from my 1st period. I spent 2days in bed unable to function. My surgeon told me that my first one would be horrendous-her words. I was grateful to be informed so that I knew what to expect. Go easy. Makes surgery seem like a picnic eh? Raspberry leaf tea has helped me through mine, but was still in pain despite maxing tramadol, paracetamol and ibuprofen. Hope you feel better soon x
