First laparoscopy

I had my pre op yesterday and I'm waiting for a date for my first laparoscopy. If I have endo they will remove and insert a coil.

Has anyone got any advice or tips? I have no idea what to expect!

A laparoscopy helped me, but a coil didn't it ended up imbedded in my bladder causing more trips to the loo than necessary, and even now with it out my bladder is not the same. And saw a recent post from another lady on here saying she had the coil and it's happening to her. They say a coil helps with the pain. But don't go by what they say, get some info first as I was like pushed into it and it affected me a lot where I was on the verge of a breakdown as I wasn't sleeping due to being on the look so much and dehydrated because I was afraid to drink spec afternoon as if I drunk half a glass of water you could guarantee I'd pee so much to fill a bucket. It was horrendous so do what's best for you and best of luck x

Thanks for your reply. I had an implant a few years ago which helped but I had problems with it. I'm at the point where I'll try anything to see if it helps. I've read good and bad things about it - so I'm really unsure

Hi I had a laparoscopy on Monday and still recovering. I was so nervous when it was leading up to my lap but trust me it was completely fine!!!!!!! I had never been put to sleep before either. I felt a little weird when they put the thing in my arm then next thing I was waking up in recovery. I wa in theatre for nearly 3 hours! They said to me they really thought it was endometriosis and it actually wasn't. They took a biopsy from my bowel. Not to sure why but I'm going back in 8 weeks for results so fingers crossed its nothing serious for me!! I also had the cool fitted and they told me I would be in alot of pain with that on top of my lap wounds but it hasn't really affected me!! I am feeling uncomfortable more than anything!!! But I'm recovering slowly but please take my advice to not get worked up about it. It isn't even worth t you are in safe hands. Don't get me wrong I was in agony when I woke up but they gave me morphjne and i didn't feel anything after then but I had to stay in hop spiral over night as I took really bad to the mor phone and was being sick every time i moved😔 I hope this has helped!!! Good luck you will be fine X x

Glad the op isn't too bad. Yeah I was told if it isn't endo I would be sent for bowel and gut tests.

Ive said I only want the coil if it is endo, as I will need to try something to help manage it. Sorry to hear about your reaction, I'm already on oramorph so hopefully I'll be okay.

Just a bit bothered if it isn't endo for me what's causing my pain & other problems

They didn't say anything like that to me so really I'm just left not knowing what's going to happen!! As I have been researching a lot I really thought it would be endometriosis so I told them i really wanted the coil as its suppose to help!! I just hope they find something wrong but it's curable or can be helped!!! It's just so weird I was 100% sure they were gonna tell me it was endo and I didn't have one little bit of it it's such a pain but hopefully they find something and can fix you up!!! Good luck xx

I'm on the hormone injections at the moment, which are helping way more than the coil ever did. Along with the hrt for the sweats. But everybody's body and endo is different. Where as coil did nothing for me but may help others but I certainly wouldn't rate it good. But the first lap I had I felt like a new woman with absolutely no pain was amazing for the first 6 -12 months then can feel it gradually coming back. Fingers crossed you find out what it is soon x

I've had the injection already - it worked wonders for 18 months then I was back to square one and then stopped having the injection to see if the pain came when I was due on as some doctors thought the pain could have been for other reasons. I think it's something I will just have to try. Hope the injection works for you!

It's working so far on my 2nd one. And have an apt in September to see where I go from there. Do you have a date yet.

Hope all goes well. No, I called last Tuesday and I was added to the cancellation list. Not sure if or when to call again as I am aware that it can't be done when you're bleeding heavily (which doesn't really help) and also I need blood tests 1 week before and I'm not sure if this is standard or some people can go a few days before a cancellation
