I saw the consultant a couple of weeks ago who said I would need bowel prep prior to my lap (I didn't have it with my last one) however my pre assessment is only the day before the surgery and they haven't posted any info out. Am I right in thinking that there are steps that need to be done more than 24hrs prior to the lap?
Bowel Prep? : I saw the consultant a couple... - Endometriosis UK
Bowel Prep?
I've also got to take this before my lap, but didn't last time, I thought it was a certain amount of drink you need to drink the day before, but not really that sure, hopefully someo e will answer, if not I would ring consultant to check, good luck x
Hello, I was given it at my pre-assessment appt but had mine months before my op. I wasn't allowed to eat anything the day before surgery - only clear liquids - so I was told Apple juice and jelly were ok apparently. I think I may have got up really early to have some breakfast (on the day before my op) but can't quite remember. Then I had 2 litres of moviprep to drink, one in the morning and one in the afternoon. You NEED to stay by a toilet as in the end it is coming out like water. I remember finding the taste not too great. Good luck
Thanks! Can I ask a tmi question? When did the effects stop? It's just that I'm being treated at a London hospital and don't live in London, it would take me 70min to get there for 7am would I be ok or should I stay in a hotel?
Hi. I would be ringing now to see if you can find out more about the bowel prep. Seems there is a range of ways these are done.
Mine was done over 3 days where I had to follow a low residue diet (only able to eat certain foods) and also had to take laxatives. I also had to ask about bowel prep at my pre-op as they didn't seem to know I needed to actually do this! Plus I had to quickly see the stoma nurse also as again, they didn't seem to have a clue! It was a bit of a shambles.
I've had a few pre-ops and twice they have not had any notes and I've had to tell them what operation I'm having etc. Sometimes there is a big lack of communication in the hospitals.
Good luck with the operation X
