Really fed up

I rang the hospital today and they said that it'll be another 8 week wait till my first laparoscopy despite it being put through as an urgent case. The pain is really getting me down . My husband thinks I should go to A&E but I'm not sure if it's worth it. Have any of you tried it?

How long have you been waiting already?

Where is your pain? Does it ease at all when you take paracetamol/ibuprofen? Have you spoken to your GP about some pain relief? X

I've only been waiting since 1st nay but my consultant told me 6-8 weeks as he's put it through as an urgent case. My pain is all over the pelvic area and I have a lot of swelling. I'm taking mecfenamic acid and have been for a good while , it's not really helping. I can't take co codomol as it makes me sick and I'm scared to try others incase they have horrible side effects .

I know there are many worse off but I'm just getting fed up . Maybe I'm destined to be in pain the rest of my life :-(

Hot water bottle helped me along with a flannel covered in caster oil. Paracetamol and ibuprofen worked really well for me as well.

I went to A&E twice and was told that they couldn't do anything I had to be referee by my GP! My GP said that on occasions when it's really bad, they can get you admitted... But it depends on who you are as to what they suggest.

Have you spoken to the Consultant's secretary? If the consultant said 6-8 weeks at the beginning of May I would have expected you to know your date for your op by now. I was scheduled for an op at the end of March and was given the date the next day (for mid August but mine isn't urgent). X

That was who I spoke to today. She made it sound like it would be at least another 8 weeks :-(

Hi I am in the same boat ! Had my consultation on the 1st May and told 6-8 weeks for my op and still waiting ! I ring admission weekly and have not even been given a op date like you ! I to am very frustrated . I emailed the consultant and was told his hands are tied and I just have to wait ! Probably in the same queue as you . All you can do my love is breath relax and hopefully you will get your op soon . Do ring Pal at your hospital as they were quite helpful in terms of getting information which might help you feel a bit better . Good luck with your op X p.s The consultant said I could try Zoladex to give me some pain relief while I am waiting so maybe email your consultant secretary and tell them how you are feeling and see if they can suggest something to help you while you are waiting x

Same here, I was told 3 months and that would be now, but been told July August now, I've been a& e a few times, they got my pain down with morphine and sent me home 6 hours later, if your not coping with mild pain relief i would get some tramodol or co dydramol. Xxx

Thanks . Just worried about the side effects of stronger pain killers but I may have to give it a try

Hey :)

Just wanted to offer some advice about pain relief - I too can't take co codamol - I had to make the hospital aware so they prescribed Tramadol and I was absolutely fine. I had my first lap in Jan and found that a mixture of ibuprofen/paracetamol and Tramadol is what got me through! As well as my hot water bottle and heated lavender bag. I found Metafamic acid didn't do much at all for me. I have heard Naproxen is good. Obviously for most of the above you will need to speak to your dr. Definitely worth it though if it will give you some relief.

I hope you get your lap date soon :) xxx

Sorry about the pain and I know the wait for operation can feel unbearable! Just a little advice from myself, I had my third lap from going into a&e and although they helped the pain short term going in through a&e meant I didn't have an endo specialist and I was back to square 1 (if not worse off) 6 months latter. I can not stress enough how important it is to get an Endo specialist ladies please do not just have a gynaecologist go in there 'thinking' they know what they are doing. I am not trying to put anyone down but this condition is not cut and dry and it really is worth the wait to have someone who knows what they are doing the first time to do your lap.

I really hope you get your date soon!

This also happened to me. I was put on the urgent waiting list after being thrown around from secretary to secretary each who would say "I know it's urgent but you will not get in until August"--- I asked the last one I spoke to what I should do, because the pain was so bad. She put my name on a cancellation list, I called early the next day and she offered me an appointment for the following day.

If you have not don't so already, ask for them to put you on the cancellation list. I would even go so far as calling everyday to see if an appointment has been assigned to you yet.

Good luck x
