So I finally have a date for my laparoscopy after 17 years of painful periods and pain throughout my cycles. It's taken a while to get to this point, to get someone to listen and to get them to agree to investigate further. A scan showed a cyst but nothing more however they did say I could have endometriosis and it not show.
Anyway now I have a date, I'm really scared. As much as I am hoping they find something so that they can do something about it, I'm worried they will find something worse or not find anything and then I'll continue to be in pain. Then I start worrying about if there are complications with the op. I've never had a general anaesthetic before!
Hopefully my pre-op will reassure me a bit. Did anyone else feel like this before their op?

Hi , yeah it perfectly normal to feel that way. You're not alone. Hope you find the answer to your pain and can get it sorted.

I was worried about the op before I had it too but I can honestly say having the op and the recovery was a lot better than I was imagining it to be.
My tips would be to make sure you take it easy while you recover. After a few days I started having short little walks around the garden but nothing more than that. I would also recommend peppermint tea and windease tablets to help release any trapped wind and dulcoease if you have any constipation.
