Good Evening lovely ladies hope you are not in too much pain today
My GP gave me some tramadol tablets to try for my pain.
I thought I would try them over this weekend to see how I got on with them.
I took one about 4 pm yesterday seemed ok, then I took one before bed last night felt quite sick but because I felt drowsy they made me sleep.
I took one tablet this morning and I really felt sick, after about an hour I was physically sick, dizzy, sweating and loss of balance. I have never felt so ill from a tablet before.
I am allergic to codeine and anti inflammatory tablets, I am on Tibolone HRT and decepeptyl injections.
Think I will just stay on my normal nefopan as although they make me constipated they do not make me sick.
Just thought I would let you lovely ladies know to be careful if you have not had these tablets before.
Hope you enjoy the rest of your weekend
Lots of love to you all take care god bless x

Hi harryhonda25, I'm sorry to hear of your experience while on Tramadol. I read quite recently that it is the drug that brings a lot of people to the emergency room with unwanted side effects. (for seniors it's a definite no for that drug) I hope you do find another pain drug that won't give you the drastic side effects that Tramadol does. Good Luck and take care.
Hey! I'm allergic to codeine and they gave me tramadol in the hospital post - op last week. I ended up been kept in because I was dizzy, nauseous and unable to walk in aided. Tramadol is an opiote and so it codeine so this is probably the reason why... Hope you feel better soon xx
I found as my body got used to tramadol the sickness etc wore off although they do make you sleep I have to take them regular for my pain and all I do is sleep
Ahh any time its no problem i used to have that but also have endometriosis on bowel I have tramadol and diclophenic together I find the other stops the effects of tramadol from being so severe and helps better with pain but if you can stand the effects of tramadol for a little while untill they calm down i would I've had a cocktails of pain relief before and I find this the best!!! Hope it helps and hope it helps with your pain have a nice day xxx
I am going to stay on my nefopan for now as am ok on that just makes me constipated but just need to take a laxative to solve this. Going to have my next decapeptyl injection 1st June so hoping this may help with my pain. Going to see the specialist endo consultant 13th July so hopefully will get some answers for my next step of treatment
I was the same way on tremadol made me really only had them over 2days be4 i contacted my gp. I am now on anatripaline (ignore wrong spelling) which have helped but i am also taking cocodamol and diacodine as well as gabaprofen if i dont take these tablets everyday thn i cant work. It has took for my gp 2 put me on all these 4 my consultant to finally sende 4 an mri scan. Hope u find something tht suits u soon
Hi yep they make me really sick too they gave me anti sickness tablets also to take with me but they made me pretty Teary too and just found them unpleasant . I take di hydracodine as I don't get on with codine and can't take NSIDS , they seem to work pretty well with me and don't make me constipated. I take paracetamol them as much di hydracodine as I need up to 2 30mg tablets 4 times a day. I know dy hydracodine is different to codine but are you allergic to it also?
Although I have woken up this morning in agony bowel pains seem to be difficult for me to treat as it underlying pain all the time then massive crampy pains π³ Like this morning π³
Hope that tramadol out of your system soon I found it did take my mind off the pains because I felt so awful so not ideal for me but a lot of people they seem to work well for.
Tramadol is a very strong opiate pain relieving drug and it is widely documented to have very strong side affects. I have taken it at various times after my separate surgeries throughout a period of 8 years and have always had to take the anti-sickness tablets Cyclizine along side it.
Also as it is known to make you very drowsy and sleepy it is highly advised to only use if staying resting and to have someone with you. I found over time as you take it the side affects do become less drastic (The first time i was prescribed it was for a 7 month period and it was taken along with Codien the side effects took 3 months to become less)
The last time i took it was after a break of 4 years and the side effects felt just as strong to start and eased off over a fortnight so my body adapted faster.
I was told in October 2015 by my GP that I could not be prescribed it whilst at home as they are taking Tramadol off the open shelves because of the side effects and possibility of addiction I was under the impression it is now treated like standard morphine and only used when under close supervision by a medical profession.
One pain relief that myself and my mum found just as good at relieving pain that can be used at home safely and we both found no sickness affect but does make you happy and sleepy (a lot like Morphine) is called Oramorph. Maybe discuss with your GP and see what they say as there is none of the drugs you advised that you are allergic to on the ingredients list.
I was perscribed tramadol for thorasic injury .. I took one instead of the 2 perscribed just incase they didnt suit me .... Just before my start of shift my ward within an hr or 2 id collapsed on the ward & was in & put of consciousness for 48 hrs .. Luckily im surrounded by friends & ny fiance who have medical training so was nursed by them at home . Id done pretty serous legal paperwork on that shift that apparently made nooo sense at all !!
Scary stuff !!
I take gabapentin now for the nerve pain & its amazing stuff !!
I had exactly the same side effects. Have you tried Naproxen? I'm on that as well as co-codamol and co-dydamol. I hope they find something soon to help your pain x
Hi Janet, I'm also on the Endo diet which is easing some of the symptoms. Some days are awful for pain and I cry, other days I try to ignore it but it's so hard. I drink lots of herbal tea like peppermint, raspberry leaf as well as sage and lemon myrtle. Also sprinkle seeds such as pumpkin seeds over meals. I hope the pain eases. Have you tried peppermint tablets? I was recommended them whilst waiting for my laproscopy. x
Busopan is good for bowel cramping/irritable bowel symptoms it's an anti spasmodic. I have bowel endo. I also take livial and have no ovaries. I tske synarel to hopefully kill off the residual endo and it is helping. It's an oestrogen blocking medicine. I find brufen irritates my bowel. Hot water bottles, paracetamol and buscopan help when my bowel pain flares up. Sometimes I'll resort to codeine but I try to avoud it as causes constipation which doesn't help my bowel. You can buy buscopan from the chemist over the counter. Try it , if it helps ask your gp for a prescription. It'll be cheaper.
Good Evening honey hope you are ok and not in too much pain today
Thank you for taking the time to reply to me really appreciate it
My doctor put me on colpermin for my bowel this seems to help with the bloating, swelling of my tummy and the trapped wind in my tummy. I think these tablets are very similar to buscapan. I get these on prescription as they work out expensive to buy them over the counter all the time. A hot water bottle helps me too when I am in bad pain.
I am an office Manager and sometimes find it difficult to carry on my day when my pain is severe, so my hot water bottle comes in very handy.
I see my specialist endo consultant on 13th July so will see what he has to say what my next step of treatment is.
Take care my lovely and enjoy the rest of your Sunday evening.
I got the exact same symptoms when I was on Tramadol, I mean it helped the pain but I was constantly drowsy and nauseous. Best to find another pain medication. Hopes this help, and you find something that works x
They do take some adjusting to. I experienced the 'dizzness, sweating, feeling like I was going to pass out, foggy head' and feeling sick' once before. I never felt so bad, so I know exactly what you're referring to. Taking them before bed and then again in the morning is a 'no no'. Especially if you're trying to run around and do things in the morning like get ready for work etc.
I find if I take them when I'm not trying to race around being busy, or during the day before 8pm then I'm fine now. I couldn't live without them. I'm glad I personally stuck with them as I wouldn't be able to function without them. I now take 1 when I get to work (if I need it and then when I need to top it up).
My advice would be to give them another go, but just try 1 when you're in pain rather than follow the advice on the box straight away and see how you feel and how your body feels.
Sorry you had a bad experience first time. Personally I'd recommend you stick with them and reduce your amount and limit any before late evening/ bed. Maybe they are responding to your injections?
I hope you find something that works for you. Best wishes x
