I need help handling all this.

Im 21 and I've been suffering since my first period at 13-14 and every time I have a new period it just doesn't get any easier at all,

Both grandmothers (mums side & dads) have endometriosis and so does my oldest sister they have the diagnosis and are getting help with it (well my nan and mum are gone or going through the change)

I went to the gyno to get the keyhole operation to get her confirmation of endometriosis and he said basically he's not wasting his time doing the operation as it's clear I have it but my doctors won't do anything without the conformation.

They've put me on the pill, the injections but nothing stops my periods and the pain X

The pain I suffer with is unbearable now especially since I was 13 or 14 and it's only getting worse

I have no idea what do with it anymore

Ask your gp for a refferal to a bsge centre, for a second opinion and laparoscopy isn't just for diagnosing endo it's what they need to do to treat it, you need thorough excision. Of any endo in your body, the best way is through a bsge centre, have a look on line and find a centre near you, then tell gp you won't a laparoscopy through this centre as it sounds clear that you gave endo, thus will hopefully get you to the right surgeon and will cut out the middle man, good luck

Thank you, I'll keep that in mind,

It's hard to talk to someone about it all, my mum just says well you'll get used to it I have and stuff.

My friends don't get it cause they haven't been through it xx

Hi Bethany Anne,

I'm so sorry that you're going through this. I'm 21 too, and I've been suffering from Endo since I was around 14. I was diagnosed at 18 and the last three years have been a mission to get through! I know it seems impossible, but it does, and will get better.

Ask for a referral to a specialist. There is one in Margate who is especially helpful, and he's on the NHS (private through the NHS) I'll give you his name if you message me privately, I don't know what the rules are for naming doctors on here...

Also, consider your diet. I know it might sound like mumbo jumbo, but there's an excellent book called "Reclaim Your Life", about a womans journey of healing her endo through her diet. I'm now on that diet and although it can be tough, my endo has got so much better!

I hope things get better for you, stay strong and fight <3

Hi, it's the worst pain anyone could possibly go through nobody understands it haha,

Thank you I'll message you today regarding the name

I just want the conformation so I know it's that and I can change,

I've changed my diets around it but nothing helps

Xx

You are better to stick to the earlier info, about getting a referral to a BSGE Centre, as they deal specifically with Endo, and can arrange a consultation with a Specialist trained Endo consultant.

General gynaes - no matter how good - have not had the specific training that specialist endo surgeons have received. Specialist endo surgeons are trained in more thorough examination and knowledge of the 'hard to access' areas where endo tends to be. Also, in being able to recognise all the different appearances of endo, some of which are often missed by general gynaes. They are also skilled in the specialist techniques for the surgical removal of endo. Laser removal, which is all that is often done, is not enough ... the endo just grows back: but the techniques for surgical endo-removal in certain areas of the abdomen is highly skilled, and - again - most general gynaes cannot do it.

Get yourself referred to a BSGE Centre.

Also, check out the posts on here by a woman called 'Lindle'. She knows everything about Endo, and gives details on contacting the BSGE centres: I think it has to be through your GP. There is a defined protocol to this, and your GP 'should'(!) follow it. If you read what Lindle says in her various posts, you will have all the info, both to ask for - and to get - what you need.

Good luck!
