Does anyone else get acid reflux, ibs and a lot of nasal congestion a few days before their monthly? What can I do to help?

I am interested in this too, when I came off the pill (which I believe was masking my symptoms) I was suddenly allergic to cats and getting sinusitis every few months!

I wonder if, as an auto immune issue, our bodies cannot fight allergens as well at certain times...?

Yes it is a hormone and auto immune disease if we all went to the doctors telling them about all the allergies or illness we get they'd probably think were hypercondriacs. But it is real and if does effect everything and everywhere in our bodys. Maybe are immune sytems are weaker than oothes but docs dont explain this to everyone. You have to find it out for yourself by talking to everyone else who has the same problems, then we report it back to the docs lol!

I get IBS & nasal congestion constantly! Bowel movements are more frequent either just before or during period & sometimes during ovulation.

I get acid reflux and IBS symptoms. Definitely linked to endo. I'm now on the 'endo diet' which has helped to an extent. Bowel movement isn't so bad but I still get the acid reflux on a regular basis. Endo has a lot to answer for!

I have recurring sinusitis, usually after my period but it can pop up any time. I really don't know why this is apart from the immune system thing as mentioned above. I have been fobbed off by the GP about it, I think I probably need treatment for the sinus pain but I am waiting until after my lap in a couple of weeks time.

The sinus rinse / neti pot is good for relieving it, you have to do it a couple of times a day but it works better than popping pills all the time.

I get terrible reflux and indigestion in the week leading up to period and sometimes the week after too. I am quite sure there is a link between auto immune problems, allergies and gastrointestinal issues.

Mine might be compounded by my underactive thyroid as well but as my endometriosis has worsened over the years so have my gastro problems and allergies. Over the last couple of years I have developed allergies to nuts, shellfish, bananas and dust mites and the indigestion and bloating I get before my period has worsened.

I have had a GP and gynae say there is a definite link and another GP and allergy consultant say there isn't!

From my own experience I can see endometriosis leaves me run down and unable to fight infection. I often get stuffy nose around time of period but now I think it's just when my immune system is low and the dust mites effect me more then.

I am not sure what the answer would be for you, I suppose trying to get the endometriosis treated or push for more tests incase there is something else.

Take care xx

I get acid reflux the week before I'm due but no one I've spoke to links it with hormones so I'm glad I'm not the only one! I also have more frequent bowel movements as well around the same time and between the 2 I knew I was due in when trying for my daughter. She's only 10 weeks and as I've bled for 8 it's too early to tell if I will continue to get this

I'm glad I'm not the only one. I always thought the Endo was linked to it. I was told there was no connection but I've been journaling my symptoms daily and it follows my cycle. I have already been using the Neti pot daily and it helps but doesn't completely eliminate my stuffy nose and acid reflux. I usually have to take an antihistamine and Zantac for acid reflux for a week before my monthly and the first three days of my monthly. Nothing really helps the ibs except not eating much for a few days. It's really annoying and frustrating because doctors disregard what I say and I know what I'm feeling. That's why I keep a journal now.

I get this terribly at ovulation time and a bit at period time. It's awful! I've found no particular relief apart from avoiding anything acidic, including orange juice and tomatoes, and having the odd Rennie. Trebor extra strong mints help a little if i can feel the indigestion coming on.

Sorry I'm not more help, but you're not alone!

I suffer with all these symptoms specially nasal congestion but thats practically an everyday thing. I have to watch what i eat because of ibs and acid reflux or actual vomiting. With endo our bodys is extra sensitive with practically everything that goes in our bodys and things outside like chemicals aircons blowing dirty air out infact sometimes i feel im allergic to everything as im always ill as endo effects all our organs including bowels etc.

That's so true. I know what you mean by constant sinusitis. It's like always having a cold. Very annoying.

People that don't have this disease say to me I can't believe you're sick again. You have been sick every month. I say exactly. It really sucks to be me.
