PT for pelvic floor therapist

I asked on Nancy Nooks group about a problem I'm having with pain whenever I feel turned on. I get shooting pains and often aches around my womb. Nancy suggested I get a pelvic floor evaluation but is this something I have to go to the Doctors about or can I find a therapist myself? Anyone know of one local to Norwich, UK?

I get this. What is a pelvic floor evaluation (I mean what does it entail/what can they determine)? I don't have to be having sec to get these pains. It's quite depressing after a while!

Me neither, the pains/cramps will come on just whenever I feel horny which is normally a week or so before my period. So unfair, damn Endo doesn't even let us feel pleasure without pain.

I have no idea what it entails really, someone suggested it and apparently it works.. Google it and see :)

I live in east anglia. I've had this several times on the NHS from specialist gyn/uro women's health physio's: they've ALL been brilliant.

Am 62, & infertile. my endo is mainly due to inutero DES exposure, but endo is in my family anyway. I was referred to this type of physio by my west Suffolk hosp gyn in approx 2009 at Ipswich hospital for pelvic floor assessment & training. My next session with the same NHS physio dept @ Ipswich was in 2011 after a colposcopy injury. That time the physio was to re-assess my pelvic floor fitness, give me PSWD for the vaginal injury & to give me dilator training to aid the recovery.

My current session this time is on referral by my west Suffolk hosp urologist due to chronic generalised abdo/pelvic symptoms becoming more severe last October. This NHS physio is THE GREATEST YET! she has discovered 3 types of prolapse & a type of 'functional' small bowl dysfunction + generalised IBS - all mainly due to my infant onset systemic lupus + secondary sjogrens + ehlers danlos type hypermobility. BUT this long flare of severe pain is particularly aggravated by certain positions during sex...my urology surgeon suspected over-tightening of the pelvic floor, but this physio thinks not & is attributing the flare & pain during sex to the prolapses which aggravate my chronic abdo/gastro/urological conditions when reacting to pressures during penetration (the pain I'm experiencing is definitely not vaginal...like you, the pain feels as if it's in the womb & bladder area)

Am sure you can see I'm a big fan of this type of physio! As my area is not far from Norwich, if you'd like more details, please PM me (I understand forum prefers us not to mention names) cause maybe my current physio can give me a name for you in Norwich....
