Hi just wondered if anyone has any advice on constipation post op, I'm currently 2 days and haven't been at all, I'm also not passing any wind and I'm in agony. Drinking laxido and have taken laxatives last night. Has anyone else experienced this post op? Xx

I had the same post op. I just drank coffee and let nature take its course. Try to move about a bit, as being immobile doesn't help. its horrible, you have my sympathy.

Hi Heidi, it can take a few days even with the laxido. Make sure you drink plenty of water and avoid coffee and tea as caffeine can cause constipation. If things don't improve in a few days go back to GP. They may be able to give you something stronger. Take care.

Think its the morphine. Completely stopped my bowels I'm on stool softeners daily now 4 weeks post op.

Hi, I had the same post op, I didn't even pass wind for 3 days, it was so painful! the anesthetic and medication can cause it, also I had work done on my bowel that contributed to it. The only thing that worked for me at the end was suppositories, you can get them over the counter or ask your GP. In my case, once I managed to go for the first time, it got sorted quite quickly. So I say it took a week or so for things to go back to normal. If you need help for longer I think fibrogel is gentler than laxatives and should help. If you are worried that to GP or call the hospital. Hope you get better soon xxx

Hi

I started having Braggs organic apple cider vinegar morning and night. Just a mouthful and it has helped no end. I was on laxatives for years but no longer.
