I've been put on it and I am 19 and have hardly been told what it is or anything. All I know is that it's a treatment for menopause and I had the injection last Friday and started the tablets last Tuesday and I am an emotional wreck and my period has come earlier just as they were starting to regulate.
I'm so confused as to what to do because they have agreed hormones don't work with me yet they are still pumping them in? I've tried the usual contraceptive options like the coil and pill and had the tablets like mefanamic acid the lot so they did a laparoscopy and got 2/3 lots of endo but now I just feel I'm back to square one and my operation was only just before Christmas..

Hi Zoladex puts you into a temporary menopause. I'm now on my fifth injection, but the fist month was hell. Your body produces more oestrogen to start with to fight the Zoladex. Once it kicks in and shuts the ovaries off things settle down . I suffer depression and this was made 10 x worse and had to go back on antidepressants. I'm now weaning myself off these and feel ok. I'm not on hrt so can't really help with that side of things . I'm 42 and having hysterectomy in March . Zoladex can cause bone density loss which is why for someone of your age they don't usually advise using Zoladex. If you're taking the hrt this will help with that. I hope things get better for you.
I also suffer from depression and have only just come off my anti depressants so am not wanting to go back on them so young as I went on them at 17/18 and went trough various counselling and CBT to sort that out and get off the anti depressants.
I am already on a very heavy period and upset constantly. They are only giving them to me for 6 months to see if it helps. Whether they do or not they are taking me off them after 6 months which is what Ican't understand?
If I still have pain with them, if the endo on my uterus. If not, it's on my bowel or elsewhere. It's all very confusing xx
Hi Hun you really need to get a referral to a specialist. A general gynaecologist doesn't have the experience to always recognise endo and it is often missed . Look on the BSGE website to find your nearest one. Then go back to GP and get a referral. I know how hard things can be . I was 14/15 years old when I knew something was wrong (rolling around floor screaming in agony) but doctors either didn't believe me or didn't care . I finally gave up trying. It wasn't until I met my husband and we started trying for a baby, after 4years with no luck a new GP at surgery sent me for ultrasound where they found a 6cm endometrioma. That has now grown to 11cm . I also have suspected adenomyosis and will be having a hysterectomy in March. Things got so bad inside there is no hope of having a baby. I wish I had kept trying to find out what was wrong. I'm not telling you all this to scare you, it's just that you are so young and I can't stand the thought of someone else going through what I have all these years. Please please take charge of your health and don't let doctors push you around Hun. If you need to talk I'm here.
Oh my gosh I am so sorry to hear that Jean I really am! Thank you so much for your support through this. I'll definitely make sure now I get the right treatment! Thank you xx
Just to give another perspective. I've been on the zoladex for 6 months. I've been ansolutely fine on it. Very few side effects ( couple of sweats/ flushes) and no bleeding. I'm going to be having it for another 3 months and with HRT for the next months. I saw your other post and would also recommend you get seen at a BSGE centre. They have more specialsm there. I've been treated at both. Xx
Hi Hun it does get worse before it gets better. If it's any consolation I've had a really bad day, both pain wise and emotionally. Been trying to fight fatigue whilst having to work a lot of extra hours due to a colleague being off sick. The two just don't mix.
Yeah I'm thinking the BSGE centre. Thank you though and I'm really glad they worked for you but they aren't intending on keeping me on them so it's a pointless upset really. All my symptoms lead to recto vaginal so I'm going to request being seen by a specialist as you say. Thank you so much for our help and it is really good to see it works for some people! At least there is hope!!! Xxx
