Hi there, I was diagnosed with Endometriosis in February when I had a laparoscopy. My surgeon removed the endometriois and placed the mirena. My symptoms were pain, mainly around my hip area and lower back, radiating down my legs. I also suffered with a daily headache, at the time not realising that it may be related. I have always had regular periods that were fairly light.

Over the past 2 months the pain has returned and is now present in both hip areas, lower back and radiating down my legs. After the surgery in February my headaches completely disappeared but these have also returned over recent weeks.

I have trouble sleeping with the pain and it does interfer with my working and family life.

I wonder if anyone else had had a similar experience of endometriosis returning in such a short space of time?

I have an appointment with my gynaecologist on Tuesday and really don't know what I should be asking for next?

I did try Prostrap prior to surgery but the hormone appeared to make my headaches worse and I had to stop taking it.

I f anyone has any advice that they are able to share based on their own experience I would be extremely grateful. I am quite worried about the degree of pain and what options are best to explore.

Thank you

A

Hi there,

I'm guessing you've already had your appointment with your gynaecologist. I hope it went well! I have heard of endometriosis quickly flaring up again after surgery however I have also heard this could be more that it wasn't fully removed the first time. I'm hoping it's not the return of endometriosis for you! I do wonder though if it is the mirena causing you trouble now? What did your doctor suggest?

All the best x

Hi, yes I have had my appointment and not overly reassuring. I appear to be very sensitive to hormones so this has ruled out usual treatments as far as I understand. The option offered is hysterectomy including removal of ovaries 😩. Have said that I will need to think about it. I am lucky that I have completed my family but I am still only 39 and this surgery would be a big deal to me. I would love to hear from anyone who has been in the same boat and if the surgery worked for them. I am going to take synarel nasal spray in the meantime and looking for a second opinion. Really difficult however as there do not appear to be any 'specialists' local to me.
