Coil strings vanishing.

Hi all, I had my second lap and endometrial excision approximately four weeks ago and whilst I was under I had the Mirena coil fitted. I felt for the strings pretty early on as instructed by my gynae and they were long, like, you could feel them a cm inside my vagina kinda long. Now I can only feel the absolute top of one string poking out my cervix. Is this normal? I know the coil can move but to lose that much string it must have moved quite a bit? I never wanted the poxy thing anyway.

Mine moved quite a bit, at the start I thought the strings were too long so my nurse took a look and found them quite easily. When my consultant took a look a few months later she had a problem trying to find them as they had moved up. I think it's quite common but if you are worried you could book a nurse app at ur GP so they can take a look for you.

I had my third inserted during my last surgery and they cut the strings off completely!! This only fills me with dread on how the ruddy hell they are going to remove it!!!!

Coils can take a little while to settle in, although I have never heard of the strings being so long, maybe they forgot to cut yours all together! I have been able to see the nurse practitioner at my local GP for coil related things, maybe best to book an appointment and ask them to take a look for you and put your mind at rest.

Good luck xxx
