Hi ladies. I had the mirena coil inserted during my lap 2 weeks ago and have checked my blood pressure and its 156/98. It's never been that high so I'm worried! Is high blood pressure one of the side effects of the coil? Thanks X

Hi a coil should not affect your blood pressure, I had mirena for 4 years but unfortunately did not help me, hope it does for you x I take a contraceptive pill, use to be called cerazette but the have changed the name to zelleta, keep a close eye on your blood ppressure, could be if your in alot of pain blood pressure rises, stress and so on but if it doesnt get under control seek medical advice, all the best x

Thank you for your reply brunette33. I have been in awful pain and having bleeding with the coil so far so perhaps it could be that. I've got a follow up consultation from the Op next week so I can discuss with the Dr X

Hi Lindle. The lap I had done April 16th was a diagnostic lap with a hysteroscopy, D and C, smear and coil inserted. One of the surgeons did say straight after my op that they found endo and I asked if it was going to be removed and he said no! The coil should sort it. I've got a follow up appointment at hospital next week on Wed 13th May to find out everything. I can let you know then what they said they have found and where etc. My symptoms are IBS, heavy painful periods with clots, painful sex and also an ultra sound showed a 'bulky cervix' ! X

Yes no problem. I will be in touch. I've been fobbed off for over 4 years with being told it was STIs and/or psychological and even had psychosexual counselling in the family planning clinic as the Dr said the pain during internal examinations was all in my head so I intend to make sure I get the right advice and treatment etc. I will take a look at your posts too. Thank you Lindle X
