Pain in relation to stress...

I'm still waiting on my appointment to see if I have Endo but it looks like the mostly likely thing at the moment. My question is, do you seem to find any correlation between stress and your pelvic pain? I had some very bad news about a family member recently and its really upset me and all of a sudden the pain seems to be worse. I'm not sure if it just feels worse because I feel so generally down or whether there's any correlation? If not with Endo then I'm wondering if the pain is something else entirely that's stress related? Just trying to get my head around why I suddenly feel so much worse since I had this news. Xx

Hi lovely

You aren't imaging it there is a known link between stress and endometriosis.

Women who have endometriosis have higher than normal cortisol levels. I'm sure this is what made my endo symptoms get unbearable a year and a half ago, my dog died at age 12 😕 still miss her and I was having a stressful time at work having to deal with a really awful situation.

Within a week the pain had gone from a nagging pain to a full on daily chronic pain.

I know it's difficult when you have bad things going on but you need to take time for yourself to destress I always find yoga helps me, a bath in epsom salts and if all else fails a big bar of chocolate.

Sending you hugs hope everything calms down for you soon hun xx

Yes the more stressed out I am, the more pain I feel. It's like everything in your body tenses up, which in turn tenses up your endo.

I'm so sorry to hear you've had bad news. Yes I agree too - my pain and all the other associated Endo symptoms are so much worse if I have a stressy month - doesn't take much, a few days of stressing or worrying about something is enough. Conversely, I had a month off between jobs last year, slept loads, ate good food, really concentrated on enjoying time off and not worrying about anything or having to get things done, and had less pain than I have in years! Stress is such a terrible thing and affects everyone in some way or another. I just try and cope with things the best I can, and find some way to let go of stress and worry - for me it's long dog walks, really taking my time to enjoy it and not think about anything else. I hope things get better for you soon,

xx
