Still having a period with Prostrap.....

I had my first Protrap injection almost two weeks ago (it will be two weeks ago on Monday).

I had it mid cycle as the nurse advised me that they only say it has to done as you start your period to ensure you are not pregnant.

She said that doing it about half way in-between my period might result in light period during the first month.

I came on yesterday and no way is the period light or pain free. I am in as much pain as always. Is this normal? Feeling really upset and disappointed. Another weekend wasted in bed.

I have currently in my 5th month of Prostap injections and from what I understand it can be normal to have periods as it sometimes take 2/3months of injections to start working properly.

Thank you for your reply.

I had these injections some years ago and my period stopped straight away and resumed straight after I came off them. I wasn't sure if it was the timing if when I had it. It wouldn't be so bad if I could see some impact of the injection eg less pain.

Fingers crossed for next month.

The only thing I was thinking is that my BMI is a lot higher than it was last time I had them.

Tell me about it I have had multiple periods whilst being on the injection and the pain still there. I'm hoping my last 2months will work as for the first 4 my doc told me to keep taking the pill but these 2months I'm not going to.

Hopefully the Injections will start working for you soon!!! It sucks when they don't :(

Thank you for the replies both, much appreciated.

My pain has lessened tonight but who knows if it will start again in the night. So cheesed off.

Lindle from reading Your previous posts seems like you are very informed. I know it's a separate issue but I wanted to pick your brains on how to find out about specialist consultants, I read your post listing them and Birmingham women's Hosp would be ideal. When I asked my GP to refer me he agreed but said I would need to specify which consultant I wanted to see. How do I research this? I need to provide him

With a name early next week!! Thank you.

Thank you. I will let my GP know tmw. This might sound like a stupid question but it can be done on the NHS can't it, it's not private?
