advice please about norethisterone

Hi I have been on the above medication for 8 years to stop the build up of endo. In order to see if i am menopausal the GP suggested i come off it toe see if i have a period. After 3 days i started to bleed, is this a period or a hormonal bleed due to coming off tablets?

Thank you for the taking the time to explain this, you have no idea how much better I feel now. All i needed was an explanation like that and I understand what is happening to my body. So do you think it would be wise to let my periods return to some kind of normality and do the blood tests rather than just jump straight back into taking the medication?

I am 48 and only knew i had endo when i was operated on to remove 2 melon sized chocolate cysts after 15months of severe pain ( the GP put it down to my age and many births.) By this time i had already had 7 daughters! but constantly breast feeding probably stopped the endo from developing further? So, i was left with 10% of a right ovary, the left completely removed and given norethisterone to prevent endo build up.

Jan 2006, 9 years ago! they didnt do a hysterectomy because of the uterus being stuck to the bowel with the possibility of a colostomy bag.

Hello, I have been in pain regularly, especially when the bowel gets full ( probably scar tissue). I take 600mg ibuprofen, hot water bottles and gentle exercise. The GP thinks that to suffer with the pain is the lesser of the 2 evils because he feels the surgeons wouldn't touch me due to the threat of a colostomy. I think taking norethisterone has stopped the periods therefore stopping the endo build up and more pain. I don't have regular contact if any with a gynaecologist, I find that you only get to see one if you need an op, whereas i would like to see one to voice my concerns.
