Enlarged ovaries

Hi everyone

My pain levels have been slowly getting worse recently and I ended up being admitted to A&E on Saturday. The doctor who saw me said he could feel my ovaries and that they were quite enlarged but this can happen with endo. Could this be the cause of my increased pain? If so should I be worried ?

Sorry to hear you have been suffering recently. Have you had an internal ultrasound? My ovaries are enlarged as both have endometriomas which could be seen on ultrasound. I end up in A&E when pain is really bad and scans show that the endometriomas are bleeding. May be worth going to your GP and asking to be referred for a scan xx

Thanks for your reply.

When I had my surgery back in June they didn't mention anything about my ovaries being enlarged which means this has happened since then. Is it a bad sign that they're getting bigger? Sorry for asking silly questions I'm just a bit worried xx

I understand how you feel. All I can say is that your ovaries shouldn't be enlarged and so if I was you I'd follow it up via the GP unless the hospital has referred you back to the endo clinic. I think GPs are normally sent some information from the hospital so it might be worth having a look at that in the first instance. If the hospital had thought it was a cause for concern you'd hope that they would have done something about it! xx

I would recommend and ultrasound. It could be cysts on the ovaries as well. Thats painful and they do burst. You have to be more demanding with your doctors. It may seem like your being a pain in the ass, but your not. Its your body and you need to do whats best. If the first doctor doesnt listen get another one. Good luck and I hope you feel better and get the answers you need.

Defo sounds like an ultrasound may well be able to identify what is going on. Go and see your GP and express your concern about your pain and what happened at A&E.

My GP reffered me for an emergency scan (still took two weeks) to be done at a local hospital. I knew I had an endometrioma and was waiting for surgery to remove it, but my pain had increased so much I was really worried it was rupturing, had just grown so big, or my ovary was twisting! In my case the cyst had just grown very big 10x12 cm!

Ive had a scan before due to pain too requested by my GP, and that took about 2 weeks too.
