Posting this just because I know you will understand ...

Went to the colposcopy clinic today *intended* to have diathermy to my cervix as there was erosion. My lovely consultant however, already did it for me 3 weeks ago whilst I was having my lap so I didn't have to endure pain twice. So today for me was going to be a check up on how things were ...

The doctor ready to do the diathermy was well and truly annoyed that I had still attended the appointment as I was 'wasting time' despite being told by the discharge nurse and my GP not to cancel the appointment and to ask for it to be checked.

She then read my notes and went on to say ...

"Oh you definitely have endometriosis, but that's nothing to worry about, it's not life threatening, JUST a little bit of pain and a bit of bleeding"

If I could get away with murder ...

OMG! I'd be fuming. She obviously has no experience of the debilitating pain we have to go through with this disease, the embarrassment and interference with daily life plus threat to fertility etc. How disapointing from a medical professional. :-(

I was not impressed at all, I was stunned so didn't say anything but as I walked out she said "you'll be fine" ... felt like inviting her into my life for a month to see just how "fine" I am ... grrr. Xxx

That's like telling a person with severe asthma...... "It's ok, you can still breathe a tiny bit, you'll be fine"

I'd complain. Fed up with ignorance in the medical profession. It's inexcusable, unprofessional (you weren't asking for her opinion on your endo), and you were not wasting their time as you'd been told to go there!
