Waiting time

Had a lap on 2 September and am now waiting for follow up surgery to remove adhesions, stage 4 endo, a cyst on each ovary and a retovaginal nodule which is all scary stuff. But I've been told I probably won't have my surgery until May 2015 - is 7 months normal or just where I am ?

Thanks all

you had a lap and they found all of that and didn't fix it at that point to save you having a 2nd GA and op? I was consented for a lap with a long list of things to do whilst i was asleep in case they found x,y,z.

that to me, from what i have seen on her seems a bit weird, i was see your GP or call your consultant back.

SEB88, yes the lap was just an exploratory to see what was going on as I was first diagnosed in 2007. They did remove some adhesions around my tubes but it was too extensive for complete removal, plus I'll need a bowel surgeon present next time :(

Hiya Teresaj,

I think that sounds fairly normal. I've had 5 laps (stage 4 endo, multiple cysts, adenomyosis, bowel all stuck to tubes and other organs etc..) and I'm waiting for a hysterectomy and full pelvic clearance. My last lap was in June and I've been told that the next operation will not be until April at least. I think they don't do it all in one go if: they find more than they originally thought and the theatre / doctors aren't booked for such a long slot, they need extra specialist surgeons like a bowel team (and then it's difficult for the hospitals to coordinate two separate teams), they need signed permission from you once all the options are explained and if there are emergency cases in-between .

It's so hard waiting - it's like having your life on hold and living with the symptoms all the time. I tend to phone my consultant's secretary every few months, just to check in and say that I'll take a cancellation at short notice and remind them how desperate I am.

All the best with it all. I really feel for you. xxx

Thanks malc21

It's so frustrating having to wait :( my pain is getting worse as I have been told I can no longer take the contraceptive pill or the northesterone that I was before as they have also discovered I have liver adenomas. We are looking at trying TTC and I feel like my body clock is ticking and I just can't wait.

Think I'll try calling again to see if I can even get the date confirmed
