Hi I've just had a womb oblation abd my tubes tied to hopefully relive some of the pain of endo. Whilst I was in theater they took a endometrial biopsy, can anyone tell me what it is and for? I didn't get much info off the discharge nurse yesterday. Any help would be appreciated Thanks x

the endometrial biopsy is taking a tissue sample from the inside of the womb, from the endometrium which is the layer inside the the uterus that your menstrual lining grows from.

It is done to look for signs of infection in the uterus or to try and figure out why you have excessive menstrual bleeding if that's the reason for the ablation.

If you do have an infection - then then targeting it with the right type of antibiotics should help.

It has nothing to do with endometriosis - which is outside the uterus.
