It could be from an infection like PID, it might be from ovarian cysts too.

The person who did the scan should have a better idea of the cause, from the scans and report back to your GP or gynaecologist -which ever of them ordered the scan.

Wait for a few days before checking if the report has been received on your records.

then book an appointment to discuss the results and decide what the next steps will be.

For PID or any abcesses cause by it or hydrosalpinx if that was uncovered too, you will initially be given antibiotics to clear up any infections. If it is PID your partner may need testing too as it is an STD.

For ovarian cysts- they ay have burst or leaked and there is nothing more tobe done on those except to monitor the situation with a follow up scan in a few weeks if you are still getting symptoms.

hydrosalpinx would require a surgery to remove the damaged fallopian tube.

If there are any indicators for endo, then you might get put forward for a laparoscopy to explore the insides with a camera and see if endo is present.

Other options may be period controlling drugs, like birthcontroll pills, mirena coil or nexplanon arm implants among many options.

The progesterone only methods are less likely to cause new ovarian cysts.

At this stage it is just a guess - I haven't seen the scans nor am i medically qualified to make head or tail out of them, so do be patient and wait to see what the reports indicate and then discuss that with your GP or Surgeon and find out all you can about what ever the cause is and then make an informed decision about which treatment options you want to try.
