Hello. I went through a stage of having panic attacks and anxiety. My doctor prescribed me citalopram starting at 10mg and then increasing slowly upto 30mg.

Initially I had a few side effects including dry mouth and nausea, but these soon went.

For me the citalopram has been amazing and I still currently take 30mg daily.

These tablets can take a few weeks to start working but they have been a godsend for me.

Best wishes,

Hello.

Sorry to hear you are having panic attacks, they are horrible and people who have never had one just don't understand!

I have recently come off if citalopram. Have been on it a few times over the years but I normally make the mistake of coming off it too soon! It really did help me. I was feeling depressed and anxious and they just helped me stay "stable" emotionally. I was only on a tiny dose too, 10mg. They do take a few weeks to kick in, don't expect miracles overnight.

They aren't a magic pill though, you also need to do some work yourself. I think counselling of some sort is beneficial to everyone. There are reasons you have panic attacks and you need to learn ways to deal with them.

Good luck, they do get better :) x

Hi gmcgill,

I have been on Citalopram for 8 years now, they have definitely helped me. This is proven when I miss a dose or when doctors reduced dose I was moody, pins and needles and painc attacks.

My advice would be give it a try, there are always sometime simular if they don't agree with you.

Hope you feel better soon,

Helony x.
