Yes I have these pains virtually constantly. I get the pains down my bum going down my left leg. I find it difficult to sit for long periods and am more comfortable laying down or standing. Some days I also walk with a limp.

I think my sciatic nerve has either endometriosis on it directly or irritating it. I also have thickening of the uterosacral ligaments and adenomyosis. I am sure all of these conditions are attributing to my back problems.

I find a tens machine really helpful and also heat pads & a hot water bottle. I also take regular Naproxen, codeine and the occasional amitriptilyn.

I saw a physiotherapist and she has given me some exercises to stretch the sciatic nerve and strenghten the soft tissue. The exercises are okay but impossible to do if the back pian is too bad.

Best wishes,

I'm also suffering with back pain and it's really getting me down! Had a gyni appointment last week and my consultant said he didn't think it was related to my endo and sent me back to the gp I'm exasperated with it all so now I have to get the gp to rule out everything else so he'll listen! Xx

How did they find out your endo was on the sciatic nerve Hun xxx

it was during an op I had 20months ago and basically said the endo was everywhere at the time and everything stuck together....my bowel was in a very bad way back then and they said it was very swollen and there was nerve damage on the left side as der was a lot of pressure on the nerve endings..... because I was suffering the horrific pain they said my sciatic nerve was damaged, amongst others and said it was very very common for endo sufferers to suffer with sciatica and am now on tabs daily for it and it defo helps....it really is excruciating pain.....mention it to your doctor or consultant next time they see you...also have three cousins in the same boat as me with endo and they all suffer with sciatica too......hope you feel better soon xx

Didn't know endo could affect the sciatic nerve. I too have that horrendous back pain above my bum all the time and pain down my leg sometimes. I have one of those microwavable heat packs that really helps. Also find wearing Fit Flops really eases the pain down my leg. Hope you feel better soon x

I have had this horrendous back pain for just over a week and I'm worried about where it could have spread to as my last lap was 2 years ago and they didn't remove any. I've had physio and they didn't help me, saying hat it was my pelvic floor muscles that were the problem and that I needed and internal exam to check them. I will admit they are extremely strong sometimes causing problems with sec if I'm in pain but that's understandable. I had thought maybe the sciatic nerve was affected by Endo and that's why I'm getting the pains, can a specialist find out if Endo is there and treat it somehow?

Hi Leya....considering your suffering with all the symptoms he should be able to give you something to help as it all points to the sciatic nerve and tell him you have spoken to a few people on this site whom all happen to suffer with sciatica as well as endo and it seems to be quite popular among endo sufferers...best of luck....hope you feel better soon xx

It was my doctor I went to and he gave me the amytriptyline and a relaxer for the nerve not the consultant.....best of luck with your op xx

Hi Barbara...am just about holding it together to be honest...mams surgery was successful tnk god and she can be treated and my poor dad had a stroke the other day and has been having mini strokes the last few weeks...it just never ends....brilliant news is Im having my surgery done for definite in 6wks time, they had to stop 2 of my tablets before they can operate, will be having scans,x-rays,bloods etc done in the meantime so am absolutely over the moon...just can't believe my 20months af hell is coming to an end and I only got this surgeon 10wks ago as he was brought in by the medical board to take over my case....they are all so kind and the consultant is so amazing ans specialises in endo also.....am overwhelmed pet.....hope you feeling good xx

That's great news about your Mum. I lost my Mum last year and miss her terribly.

Is your dad being seen by a specialist stroke team?

Good news about your surgery.... What are you having done?

I'm not too bad.... Apart from my back, my Endo alien has been quiet over the last week! I found out on Friday that I will probably need shoulder surgery! So within the near future I have three lots of surgery to tackle!

It's a good job we are strong women to cope with all if this!

I know how you feel !! It's so debilitating and uncomfortable all you want is some relief from it all !? I've suffered with Endometriosis for years had a my right Ovary and hysterectomy just leaving me with my left Ovary , this was so I didn't go into early Menopause (op in May 2010 age 41 ) . This helped for a few months and by September I had all the signs back , went a ultrasound scan and they found an Ovarian cyst on the left Ovary !! By this time I was absolutely and completely exhausted and very very depressed !! Yet again another operation to remove the cyst and my remaining ovary ! But I thought it was the only way forward and at least it will be gone for good !!! Now 2014 and here we are again !! Ultrasound and CT scan and I have a a pelvic cyst wait to see the gynaecologist on 19 June ! I'm not sure what to expect to be honest , I need closer from this dreadful and debilitating condition ! So my advice would fight for what you knowing your own body and follow your instincts , believe it or not some of the Gyny Doc's are not az knowledgeable as they should be when it comes to Endometriosis .
