Pain and wind..: Hey ladies do you tend to... - Endometriosis UK
Pain and wind..
Most definitely - this has been a big problem for me. I found certain foods and alcohol, caffeine and fizzy drinks always made this worse than it needed to be.
Part of the problem is politeness - holding back from passing wind in public when it really should be out of you.
The gas accumulates in the colon and this is pretty much right across the top of the uterus. If you have endo or adhesions glued to the colon then anything that causes it to balloon up will sure hurt pretty quickly.
the longer you hold on the more is builds up the more painful it becomes.
I did find a long time before diagnosed with endo, that drinking water instead of fizzy, caffeine and alcohol certainly helped, and avoiding windy foods. I have always had a rumbling tummy and that sort of thing, so my digestion has never been a quiet affair and windy issues had been a significant problem for a long time and still are to some extent.
The change in diet certainly helps and using every available opportunity to pass wind discreetly - popping to the loo etc will provide relief. common sense but not always practical. Some people have no qualms about trumping in public, but I am rather shy about that, and it doesn't do me any favours. It hurts holding back.
