Hi im now 3 weeks down the line from a laparoscopy. Ive just had a bath for the first time since my op. When I was drying the belly button wound I noticed two bubble like lumps inside my belly button. Im sure they were not there after my op. Does anyone know wat these may be?

If you can feel them under the skin then most likely they are glue plugs.

Surgical superglue is used to seal up lap holes and then a stitch or two is placed on the skin surface to stop the now hardened glue plugs popping out.

The surgical glue plugs will dissolve in time - a long time - but they do go.

What you do not want to do is mess with them too much just incase they do pop out, because that can leave you with an open hole that gets infected and can take ages to clear up the infection.

My 1st lap - belly button glue plug popped out with a little help from me messing with it as I didn't know what it was. Took 2 months just to get the infecting under control.

Not recommended !!!

If they are about the size of a pea or bean then they should be the glue plugs.

They should feel quite hard if you push down on them or pinch the skin around them ...carefully !

If they are more like surface skin blisters then it my be that you have a skin irritation to adhesives on plasters or the ingredients of some ointment you may have been using.

Or nickel from a belt buckle or the backing of jeans buttons or studs.

If you think is is an allergy reaction then micropore tape wrappd over the metal, or clear nail polish on the metal my keep the nickel from getting firect contact with your skin, or wear a long vest top tucked in to you jeans or trousers as a barrier layer between skin and metal.

Good afternoon! I have got a small blister in belly button after laparoscopy. I think it may be an irritation from an oitment I am using or maybe it is due to the clothes I use. Will this blister disappear? Thank you and regards!

Thank you. I cant feel them under the skin and they dont seem like blisters. They seem like two little balls the size of ball bearings just sitting on the scar. Could these still be glue plugs?
