Belly button post laparoscopy - lump?

Hi,

I’ve had 3 laps in total, my most recent was just over 2 weeks ago.

All healing well apart from my belly button incision. It has a small (semi hard) lump in it. This never happened after my last 2 laps and belly button went back to normal.

I noticed it 2 days after surgery when I changed my dressing, but looked smaller and was harder to see as I had a lot of blood and swelling - now that’s gone down it’s more visible.

Because of the Covid19 situation and lockdown- I now can’t go to doctors or for my follow up, can’t get hold of my consultant (potentially not working off sick etc...)

I have attached image of what it looks like now. I’ve googled and I’m worried it could be a hernia from incision, but would it should that early?

Anyone had this I’m so worried :(

Dani

You should still be able to talk to a GP, can you email them the photo, they can decide whether to see you or not.

Try not to worry Dani, I could only suggest taking homeopathy for it. Like if you google homeopathy for hernias or homeopathy for post op such as arnica

Stay well

Hello,

Can I ask if you found out what this was?

I had my lap 2 weeks ago and have a lump really similar, and I’m a bit worried!

Hi Luna, I just wanted to say that I had a lump just under my belly button about 2 weeks after my second lap. I was really worried it was an infection or hernia but did eventually get to speak to a nurse who said it was likely part of the healing process and maybe caused by the stitches under the skin there. She wasn’t concerned as it wasn’t red/hot/sore or anything. It disappeared gradually over the next couple of weeks and has now gone entirely (I’m about 7 weeks post lap now). Obviously try to speak to a doctor/nurse about it if you can but thought I’d share in the meantime as I know how worrying it can be! Take care and I hope you are otherwise recovering well ☺️

Hi ladies I just wanted to say firstly of course we are all different but I have had two surgeries. My last one they went in again through my belly button and this time it has now completely healed but the scar is hard and normally raised. Some days it is harder than others. From stories I’ve read and for me anyway it seems that where they joined me back up it’s just harder than it was.

For me I know there is no problems and this is just my new normal but definitely see if you can email a GP or a contact at your hospital, I had the contact details for my consultants secretary and everything the Specialist Endo nurse too. They were my first points of contact when I needed anything.

Good luck and don’t give up if you are worried 💕💕
