Hi Gemd24,
Ive personally never experienced having a laparoscopy as i believe im still within the early stages of Endometriosis and therefore i haven't been officially diagnosed with it, but if you dont mind me asking how did the last 2 operations go?
ive heard a few not so good comments about opting to have endometriosis removed via laser but i guess everyones body is different and therefore can deal with it in much different ways.

Hi Abenna
My 1st was to diagnose endometriosis they then tried to treat me with the pill to control bleeding and strong painkillers for pain, which wasn't successful so I then had a course of 6 monthly injections of zoladex, they did help but then a year later it got worse so had a second laparoscopy to remove endo and had my cervix Lasered aswell that worked really well and then a year and a half later I fell pregnant naturally with my first child, I had the implant fitted 2 years ago and first year periods were fine but then had continual bleeding and pelvic pain, doctors ruled out that it wasn't implant causing it and that was typical endo, I'm due to have 3rd laparoscopy in next few months and have asked if I want coil fitted as it can help with pain, has anyone else had coil and been ok? I'm unsure cos also hard it can cause irregular and heavy bleeding in first 6 months thank you
Thanks for responding, I'm luckily a mother of 2 young children and i believe ive had a cyst which has been covering the side of my cervix for about 5 yrs the best thing about it so far is ive had Lil to no symptoms at all. Since giving birth to my 2nd child nearly 5 months ago now ive been considering having the coil fitted purely for further contraception needs, ive had the contraceptive implant fitted shortly after giving birth to my 1st child back in 2008 and i experienced very irregular and heavy bleeding with it for about 6 months of it inserted but the nurse who fitted it for me did advise me of this happening so it came as no surprise. after those initial 6 months however my periods completely stopped and i was period free up until the time of removing it in late 2012.
Im still a bit unsure of having the coil fitted as i mentioned in my 1st reply to you i haven't yet being diagnosed with endo and im just a bit worried about the insertion and etc...
My advise to you would be if you really want to try having the coil in to probably to try and delay having it fitted until you've had your 3rd laparoscopy out of the way, but its easy for me to say this as you ultimately know your body best.

Laser is great for shallow endo - and useless for deep endo as it doesn't remove it entirely -and any endo left behind will continue to be active and able to spread.
For this reason excision of endo is by far the better surgical option to avoid repeat surgeries.
The accredited endo centres in the UK do excision surgery, and after two laps already - I would ask questions of your surgeon as to why they are only wanting to use the laser on you when clearly it has not been effective enough in the past leaving you with active endo deeper down.
I did read on lady on the forum was on her 5th or 6th lap op.
Yh they have said that they would fit it when I was under when having my op, my implant still has another year, and don't know about wanting other children in the next 5 years. I know I can have it out at anytime. Hard to know what to do for the best.
Are they going to perform a laparoscopy for u to diagnose? Xx
Hi Gemd24,
I know exactly how you feel, just before my second lap I felt petrified not of the pain or the procedure as I knew what I was up against this time but I had it in my head that something would go wrong and there would be complications. I even went to the extent of writing letters to everyone in my family because I honestly didn't think I was going to wake up at the end of the operation.
Everything was fine though and I had no complications, if anything I recovered better this time as I knew what to expect. I am sure you will be fine though. Of course the risk of a complication increases with the number of operations you have but you will be in the best hands.
Hope you aren't worrying too much x
Hi heatherec
Yh that's exactly how I feel just worry about things going wrong and I now have a 2 year old to think about. I'm sure everything will be fine.
Have you ever had the coil?
Thanks xxx
No I have had my laps and then zoladex and then the depo provera injection. I stopped having this 6 months ago as it was affecting my bone density more than it should. I now have to wait to have a period for the coil to be fitted but I might be trying for a baby by the time a period comes. At the moment I have been off of it 6 months and still nothing, most women take about 14 months to get back to normal so I'm not sure what I will do.
Have you been offered the coil? xx
Yh I've been offered the coil when they do my next op, but I'm unsure what to do heard mixed reviews about but suppose each person is different.
Do u already have children or will this be your first your trying for? Xxx
Hi, sorry it took me an age to reply it has been one of those weeks at work!! This will be our first that we will be trying for. I'm going into without hardly any hope and thinking it won't happen so that anything better than that will be brilliant. God knows when we will start trying though due to the lack of period.
Made any decisions about the coil? xx
Hiya hun,
I have had endometriosis and PCOS for over 15years...I have now had nearly 20 surgeries!! My first surgery was to remove my appendix at 12years old and the rest have been for endometriosis, cysts and adhesions. I have also had one of my fallopian tunes removed...the only complication I have ever had is a big blood clot (not the dangerous ones that you get in you're veins!) under the surface of the wound site. It was a little painful but went within a couple of days. My point is you are no more at risk of anything going wrong weather you have had one or 20 surgeries. You will pretty much feel the same way after as you did last time. But I worry every time I have surgery that something is going to go wrong. People say that I must be used to it by now...but sometimes I think when you have had a surgery you know what to expect and that can make it worse lol.
I hope you're surgery goes well and you make a speedy recovery.

Hi I had the marina coil fitted a few months ago . I had some light bleeding for 4 months and now just get the occasional spotting which I am told is due to my adenomyosis and I have stage 4 endo . Everyone is different but I would really think about giving it a go and if it doesn't work for you most doctors surgery will take it out for you. Hope everything goes well for you.
I know exactly how you feel! I had my 3rd lap lap month and was so incredibly nervous beforehand.
It all went fine so don't know why I was nervous, may be a bit of the unknown as to what they would find.
I am sure you will be fine too, good luck x
