After 2 x laparoscopies (2nd was 7 months ago), I'm now on my 5th IUI and have swopped from Clomid to Gonal-F. AF's due any day now and the cramps are horrendous - as bad as they were pre-laparoscopy so I'm wondering if it's due to the drugs?
Does taking Gonal-F (drug that can be use... - Endometriosis UK
Does taking Gonal-F (drug that can be used during IUI and IVF treatments) aggravate endometriosis?
Yes all the IVF drugs are not good for endo. It's a dilema anyone with endo faces, who want to get help conceiving by boosting their egg production.
the short term horrors of the drugs followed hopefully by a pregnancy which would stop the endo activity for many months, or
opting to harvest just the one naturally produced egg each month (obviously a much more expensive business)
or not bothering giving the endo a feast and treating the endo by trying to starve it of oestogen and not having a baby.
Please read up on OHSS - as this is a known risk of the drug and one to be on your guard watching out for.
There also should be a patient information leaflet for the drug which explains the most common side effects you can expect - so read it thoroughly.
