Hello everyone - I am new to this forum, I was diagnosed with Endo this year. I've had a laporoscopy to remove a chocolate cyst and I have now been put on Provera to try and eliminate the Endo. I've heard a lot of horror stories about weight gain and hair loss etc as possible side effects. I've only been on the provera since Tuesday and already feel a bit heavier but I don't know if this is psychological. Please help! What can I do to prevent the weight gain/ water retention/ hair loss?
Is anyone else on this medication? If so, how did it work for you?

Hi PinkCherry, it is very likely that you will put weight on. I have; about 2 stones! No hair loss though. I am always on the go and eat sensibly I think, but the weight does not shift. Is mostly around my middle. Remember though that everyone is different in how meds affect them and you might not be affected in the same way as me. It is worth carrying on with the Depo Provera and see how it goes for you. You might feel that the benefits of the medication are worth it. I am not really benefiting from the injection so I am stopping it soon and going to await the consequences. I hope it works out for you though. Good luck! X
Thank you Bokkie, I keep reading about depo provera. I'm currently taking the provera pill but it doesn't say depo on the label - is this different to just provera? Are the shots and the pills different or the same?
Oh! Sorry, I thought you were on the Depo Provera! I don't know anything about a Provera pill but from my experience most contraceptive pills have the potential to make you gain a little weight. Hopefully other ladies on this forum will know about the Provera pill. : ) X
Hi.I was on provera for four years.I took 3 x 10mg a day.I had no weight gain or hair loss.No periods and very little pain.would definitely recommend giving them a try.
