Severe Endo & Hysteroscopy? Maybe a strange question but has anyone had a Hysteroscopy who has severe Endo.

My doctor has said this will be painful on an out patient clinic and I will need sedation yet my hospital says take a paracetamol, which is ridiculous as I take high dose of pain killer anyway for the Endo pain. I am worried that this will be painful.

Yes it will be too painful for paracetamol. i was offered entonox and even with that - it was bloody agony. Stick to your guns and insist that you have anaesthetic. If they refuse to co-operate then have a sit down strike and tell them to reschedule you so that you can have the procedure under anaesthetic.

If you already know you have incredibly painful smear checks etc then this will be no less painful and because the procedure lasts longer the discomfort will be extended - so I am 100% with your GP on this - definitely push for an anaesthetic above just a crappy paracetamol. That is a ludicrous suggestion to be adequate relief from the pain.

They should have the wherewithall to give you much stronger pain relief and you should insist apon it.

Hi. I have had this done and the doctor took also two samples of tissue. I was not offered any pain relief beforehand or anaesthetic and the Doctor who did it said it would only be mildly uncomfortable. It was the most painful thing I have ever had done in my life (and I have quite a high pain threshold!). They tell you to relax your legs like you do for a smear test but it took all my will power to do it because when you have that amount of pain your natural reaction is to tense them and bring them together. I was nearly on the ceiling and almost broke the nurse's hand! My husband was also in the room at the time and said he felt like punching the doctor! He said the pain looked worse than when I was in labour!!! I don't mean to scare you but I would also insist on something much stronger than paracetamol or a local or general anaesthetic for this procedure. Good luck! XXX

Hi I've had two Hysteroscopy's done recently and yes it is vey uncomfortable and painful I took codeine phosphate and I did manage it's over very quickly the biopsy hurt and I had after pain for 36 hours but I didn't have anaesthetic

everyone's different and only you know how you feel. By the way I have stage 4 endo and adeno You could give it try and stop if it's too much to bear and then rebook and be sedated.

Hi I have had hysteroscopy done but mine was done under general anesthetic at same time as my lap. My consultant said he wouldn't do it without anesthetic as it painful. So keep pushing for anesthetic. Think I had it easy as my consultant is female n has had it herself.

I had one on jan 13th. Lucky the nurses were great and gave me gas and air which let me get through. I also had to take next day off work as was sore xx
